FOX Sports Radio Host Doug Gottlieb to ‘Dial It Back’ on UWGB Game Days Next Year

"Some of it is for optics, but a little bit of it is you just want to be fresh and resting."

Doug Gottlieb has one of the more challenging dual roles you could imagine in the media space: working as afternoon host at FOX Sports Radio while simultaneously serving as the head men’s basketball coach at Wisconsin-Green Bay. His role with UWGB will take a little more precedence during the 2025-2026 season, however.

Gottlieb told the Green Bay Press Gazette that he intends to focus more on basketball during game days as he approaches his second season leading the Phoenix.

“We talked a little last year about do I want to do it on day of games? Do I want to do day before games?” Gottlieb said. “I would think I would probably dial back on day of games. Some of it is for optics, but a little bit of it is you just want to be fresh and resting.

“It’s weird, because game day, there is so much nervous energy because there is nothing to do. Now, look, if you haven’t done your homework, sure, I guess. But we are pretty well prepared, and we will be even better prepared next year.”

UWGB Athletic Director Josh Moon said he has not directed Gottlieb to shrink his radio involvement in any way and that it is the FOX Sports Radio host’s job to ensure that he is doing his best work at both endeavors.

Doug Gottlieb concluded that he will “make smart adjustments” to his radio schedule when the time comes.

In his first season leading the men’s basketball team at UWGB, the Phoenix went 4-28 overall, including a 21-game losing streak.
