Radio One Buffalo has purchased WHLD-AM 1270 Niagara Falls, NY, from Cumulus Media. The purchase gives Radio One Buffalo two AM signals in the Buffalo/Niagara Falls, NY market.
Radio One Buffalo owner Buddy Shula said, “This is a great addition to Buffalo’s Oldies Station, The BIG WECK, and will give us more opportunity to touch the lives of our listeners and local communities. This acquisition is going to change the radio landscape in Niagara Falls, Buffalo, and all areas in between, just like our purchase of WECK-AM did eight years ago.”
The companies have announced a Local Marketing Agreement (LMA) set to commence on June 1st, contingent upon approval from the FCC before the closing.
Radio One Buffalo adds to a portfolio that includes 1230 WECK and three translators in Buffalo and Yacht Rock Key 93.7 WKEY in Key West, FL.
The purchase price was $150,000.

My husband and I are VERY disappointed in the recent change of this station. We had it on from 9:00 am until evening. I’m lost without it. What makes you think we need another oldies station in this market? What you had was a station like no other around here. Now I’ve had to find these shows on line but can’t listen on my walkman (yes, I still have one) when I’m out for a walk or riding my bike which is every day in the summer. Some tell me to listen to WBEN but that’s nor the same at all. Just wanted to tell you that you’ve lost 3 listeners. I have no reason to listen anymore.
…picking the Big WECK up much stronger on 1270 here in Brighton Ontario about 100 miles away !
