Sean Grande, the radio play-by-play voice of the Boston Celtics, will be delivering commentary ringside during the Netflix global broadcast of the fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano. The two boxers are squaring off for the third time in their careers in what will be the first all-women’s professional boxing card at Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y. The trilogy event takes place on Friday, July 11 and features several preliminary fights streaming live starting at 5 p.m. EST on the Most Valuable Promotions YouTube channel and Netflix’s Tudum website. The main card begins at 8 p.m. EST on Netflix and features Grande on the call with analysts Seniesa Estrada and Laila Ali for in-fight analysis.
Throughout his broadcasting career, Grande has called combat sports for a variety of companies, some of whom include Showtime and Spike TV. Grande also made his Olympic Games debut last summer in Paris for NBC Sports where he was the play-by-play commentator for coverage of boxing. Outside of his boxing commentary, Grande has called Celtics games on the radio since 2001-02 and, in 2009, he became the third person in NBA history to call 1,000 games before turning 40 years old.
“Taylor vs. Serrano 3 is not just a historic fight, it’s a cultural moment, and we’re proud to present it with a broadcast team that reflects the scale and significance of this event,” Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian, co-founders of Most Valuable Promotions, said in a statement. “From boxing legends and world champions to groundbreaking voices in media, this lineup brings unmatched expertise, personality, and perspective to one of the biggest nights in the sport. Together with Netflix, we’re setting a new global standard for how boxing is presented.”
Broadcaster and host Kate Scott will be anchoring the desk team, and she will be joined by former world champion Andre Ward as a co-host and analyst. In addition, Ali will contribute her insights to the program in an analysis role as well. Throughout the night, Ariel Helwani and Sibley Scoles will be providing ringside interviews and reporting. Kody “Big Mo” Mommaerts has been named the in-ring announcer for the bout, and Sean Wheelock will supply rules and scoring analysis. Netflix and Most Valuable Promotions will present events throughout the week leading up to the fight, including open workouts, the final press conference and public weigh-ins.
