iHeartMedia Austin’s 1300 The Zone is deepening its ties to the Texas Longhorns, announcing a new partnership with the 3rd & Longhorn football show that will expand coverage for the 2025 season.
As part of the collaboration, the station will debut The 3rd & Longhorn Postgame Show this fall, airing live immediately following every Longhorns football game. The program will feature analysis from former Texas players and football insiders, offering listeners perspectives rooted in firsthand experience.
Bryan Erickson, program director at 1300 The Zone, said the addition of the postgame show further establishes the station as the go-to destination for Longhorns coverage.
“We’re excited to partner with the team at 3rd & Longhorn,” Erickson said. “With so many lifetime Longhorns on their roster, 3rd & Longhorn provides unparalleled coverage with keen insight and game analysis from guys who played the game at the highest level. Adding The 3rd & Longhorn Postgame Show to the station’s existing coverage makes 1300 The Zone the most comprehensive and robust destination for Texas Longhorns fans.”
The new postgame program aims to connect fans with the team in real time, delivering immediate reaction and informed commentary after every contest. Listeners can expect expert breakdowns, live call-ins, player interviews, and interactive segments designed to tap into the energy of game day.
For Derrick Johnson, a former Texas linebacker and co-host of 3rd & Longhorn, the partnership represents an opportunity to expand the show’s reach and impact.
“We are fired up for 3rd & Longhorn to join forces with 1300 The Zone this season,” Johnson said. “There’s nothing better than talking Texas football with Longhorn Nation right after the game, and teaming up with iHeart with its unmatched reach gives us an even bigger stage to bring that energy, insight, and passion to fans every game day.”
The agreement comes at a pivotal moment for the Texas football program. With the Longhorns set to navigate one of the most highly anticipated seasons in recent memory, interest in team coverage has never been higher. Fans will be able to access The 3rd & Longhorn Postgame Show not only on-air but also through digital channels, including streaming on the free iHeartRadio app.
