Jon “Stugotz” Weiner, longtime radio personality and co-host of The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, is stepping further into the podcasting space with a new project that bears his name. During the latest episode of Stupodity, Weiner revealed that his latest daily endeavor, Stugotz and Company, will debut Wednesday. The show will feature a mix of familiar voices, including ESPN’s Israel Gutierrez, who Weiner confirmed will join the program on a daily basis.
“I’m super excited about that,” Weiner said following the announcement of the new podcast plus a reveal of the new podcast’s logo in which Weiner said, “It is my homage to Dead & Company. My sports radio and sports podcast homage to my favorite band.”
Gutierrez joked that he was surprised by the official confirmation of his role. “This is news to me, you guys. I’ve just been getting phone calls because I live nearby, but this is amazing. I’m a company,” Gutierez said.
The podcast’s debut also comes with a significant sponsorship agreement. Weiner announced that FanDuel will serve as the show’s title sponsor, providing stability for both the project and its contributors.
“Thank you to the folks from FanDuel who were there for me at a time where I really needed someone to be there for me, to be there for us,” Weiner said. “Taylor, Mikey A, Izzy, Jess — they weren’t doing this for free forever. I had to start paying some people and I was tired of paying out of my own pocket. Although I wasn’t doing that.”
Weiner recently has stepped back his appearances on The Dan Le Batard Show in conjunction with his God Bless Football podcast now treated as an independent venture run by Weiner. He has since created his own YouTube channel and podcast feeds, and now has a title sponsor in FanDuel.
The addition of FanDuel provides Weiner with a reliable partner in the crowded digital audio space while also ensuring the resources needed to consistently produce a daily show.
Stugotz and Company officially premieres Wednesday across major podcast platforms.
