Newsmax to Make Lineup Changes Including Greta Van Susteren and Carl Higbie

"This is the ideal point in the day for a news show."

Date:

Newsmax has announced changes to its daily lineup, with Greta Van Susteren, Chris Salcedo, and Carl Higbie changing timeslots.

Beginning on Monday, September 8th, the network will move The Record with Greta Van Susteren to the 4 PM ET timeslot.

“This is the ideal point in the day for a news show,” Van Susteren said. “It’s when the major stories are taking shape, and I can do what I love most: reporting, explaining, and learning.”

While speaking at the BNM Summit on Wednesday morning, Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy said that Van Susteren moving to the 4 PM ET timeslot is perfect for the longtime cable news host due to Congress, the financial markets, and other notable news events generally end at the time. He shared that he believed it put Van Susteren in a position to cover the hard-news angles at those times, while allowing opinion hosts more time to react and share their comments on topics.

Previously, that show was seen at 6 PM ET. Moving to that timeslot is Carl Higbie Frontline. That show had been in the 5 PM ET window.

In the meantime, The Chris Salcedo Show is moving from the 4 PM ET timeslot to the 5 PM ET timeslot.

The network’s primetime lineup — which includes Rob Finnerty, Rob Schmitt, Greg Kelly, and Chris Plante — remains unchanged on Newsmax.

  1. I guess I will not watch Newsmax in the evening. I don’t like the self important Greta, and turn her off any time she comes on, even as a guest on another show. Salcedo & Higbie were my two go to guys. If I have to wait till 5, I most likely be onto something else and won’t give it any thought of watching beyond that. Guess I’m no longer a viewer.

    • I agree with you don’t care for her coverage at all will turn to something else at 4. Love Chris salcedo and the others

    • I don’t care for Greta either so the time change works great for me. Now I can finally watch Carl H. and Chris S. after I get home from work.
Love the evening schedule too, except for The Right Squad. Mercedes and Matt Schlapp should have a show instead. They rock!

  2. I always record Carl, so I don’t care what time he comes on. But I don’t understand why the change though.

  3. I really like Carl Higbee a lot. I think his time change works for me. That is when I like to relax and watch he news.

  5. I don’t really understand the change in schedules I’d like to know how Carl and Chris feel about it they are my favorites credit is okay I watch her sometimes but I much prefer the guys

  6. I always watch Greta. so I’ll change my viewing time. T U for letting me know.
They’re all with in that 3 hour time so I won’t miss them anyway.

  7. Love that you are changing the times for Chris, Carl and Greta, we never watch Greta, she isn’t our cup of tea.

  8. I think Greta is great. She is simply the most bias of all reporters…and that is exactly what she is a reporter not an opinion hack

  9. I will not be watching Greta as well. I am still trying to find Chris
I’m truly disappointed in Newsmax for fumbling in Chris’s show.

  10. glad Chris Salcedo is back on at 5! I can watch him again when I’m just getting off work, he was the first one I watched when I switched to Newsmax and been happy I did!
