Quu Expands Visual Radio Partnership With Pattison Media

"As more listening happens in connected vehicles and through digital streams, broadcasters have new opportunities to engage audiences visually. We're proud to partner with Pattison Media and put every screen to work for its stations.”

Date:

Quu is expanding its footprint in the Canadian radio industry. Pattison Media will bring the company’s visual radio technology to 39 stations.

What We Know: Quu has reached an agreement with Pattison Media that will add its patented visual messaging technology to 39 radio stations across the broadcaster’s portfolio. The technology displays programming information and advertiser messages on compatible vehicle dashboards and online audio streams. As a result, the partnership gives Pattison Media additional advertising inventory while enhancing the listener experience across both in-car and digital platforms. Quu continues to position visual radio as an important part of broadcasters’ digital strategies as connected vehicles and streaming become larger parts of radio consumption. Meanwhile, the agreement expands Quu’s presence in Canada by partnering with one of the country’s largest privately owned radio operators.

What They Said: “Radio is no longer just an audio experience. As more listening happens in connected vehicles and through digital streams, broadcasters have new opportunities to engage audiences visually. We’re proud to partner with Pattison Media and put every screen to work for its stations.” – Quu CEO Steve Newberry

“We’re committed to delivering audio and digital solutions that create greater value for our audiences and clients. Quu’s visual messaging strengthens our radio offering while complementing the other innovation initiatives underway across our business, like Validate and Resonate. This agreement with Quu is another way Pattison Media is investing in the future of radio.” – Pattison Media President Rod Schween

What Remains Unclear: Neither company disclosed when Quu’s technology will be fully deployed across all 39 stations. Financial terms of the agreement also weren’t announced. It’s also unclear whether additional Pattison Media stations could adopt the platform in the future.

What It Means: Quu continues to build momentum as radio companies look for new ways to generate revenue beyond traditional audio advertising. Because more consumers now listen through connected vehicles and digital streams, broadcasters can create additional value by pairing audio with synchronized visual content. Consequently, Quu’s technology offers stations another way to modernize the listening experience while giving advertisers more opportunities to reach audiences without interrupting programming.
