The San Antonio Spurs have found their new home for local broadcasts. DAZN will stream San Antonio games starting with the 2026-27 season.
What We Know: DAZN becomes the Spurs’ exclusive direct-to-consumer destination beginning next season. The platform will carry every regular season game not reserved for national broadcast, plus preseason contests and original programming. Meanwhile, a local over-the-air partner will air 22 games with details still to come. The move follows Main Street Sports Group’s collapse. After which DAZN signed deals with the Timberwolves, Cavaliers and Pacers. Also securing the Knicks and Nets streaming rights via MSG and YES Networks.
What They Said: Frank Miceli, chief commercial officer at Spurs Sports & Entertainment: “Partnering with DAZN gives Spurs fans an easy and innovative platform to follow Spurs game action and additional behind-the-scenes highlights. This partnership expands access to Spurs basketball and original content across our home broadcast market while creating more ways for fans to connect with the team. We’re excited to work with DAZN to deliver an engaging viewer experience beginning with the 2026-27 season.”
Shay Segev, CEO of DAZN Group: “The San Antonio Spurs are an iconic sports brand with deep roots in their community. DAZN’s partnership with the Spurs is another important step in our strategy to build the leading entertainment destination for sports fans in the United States. Across the country, we’re partnering with top-tier teams and rights holders to help them strengthen direct relationships with their audiences through a modern, flexible viewing experience. The Spurs share our commitment to innovation and fan engagement. Together, we look forward to bringing Spurs basketball and premium team content to local fans.”
What Remains Unclear: Still, the Spurs haven’t named their local over-the-air partner yet. It’s also unclear how a league-wide streaming package, expected for 2027-28, will affect this deal.
What It Means: In short, the deal signals another step away from regional sports networks. For Spurs fans, that means simpler access to games, but a new subscription cost yet to be determined. For DAZN, San Antonio adds another marquee franchise to a fast-growing local sports portfolio in the United States. The platform is positioning itself extremely well to be a prime player in the offering for an NBA centralized global hub beginning in 2027.
