Prime Video Becomes Streaming Home For Six NHL Teams Beginning Next Season

"We’re excited to build upon our strong relationship with the NHL and provide fans with more ways to connect with the local teams they love."

Date:

Six NHL clubs are moving their local streaming rights to Amazon Prime Video beginning with the 2026-2027 season. In addition to live pre-game and post-game coverage.

What We Know: Prime Video and the NHL announced a multi-year deal Tuesday. The Carolina Hurricanes, Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues will stream locally on the platform starting next season. In-market fans get regular-season games. In addition to pre- and post-game shows, and extra team content. Moreover, each club will reveal its own subscription pricing and packages separately at to be determined dates.

What They Said: Charlie Neiman, Head of Sports Partnerships, Prime Video: “We’re excited to build upon our strong relationship with the NHL and provide fans with more ways to connect with the local teams they love. We have firmly established Prime Video as a primary destination for sports and look forward to helping these teams broaden the reach and accessibility of their live games.”

David Proper, NHL Chief Media Officer and Senior Executive Vice President: “Fans want an easy way to find and follow their favorite teams. This agreement with Prime Video gives Clubs the flexibility to meet that demand as the market evolves. Amazon has been a terrific partner to the NHL, and we’re excited to expand our relationship as Prime Video grows its NHL offerings. Together, we’re creating new opportunities for Clubs to reach fans and delivering a premium, accessible regional viewing experience.”

What Remains Unclear: Pricing details haven’t surfaced yet. Each club still must announce its own package structure and cost, so fans won’t know exact terms for a while.

What It Means: This deal deepens Amazon’s push into regional sports. In addition, it follows Prime Video’s existing local deals with the Seattle Kraken, YES Network, NESN and others. It also builds on a 12-year Canadian NHL broadcast agreement signed earlier this summer. Moreover, these moves position Amazon as an increasingly central player in hockey’s shifting media landscape.
