Race Taylor is out as morning host at 101.1 CBS-FM in New York. His exit ends a seven-year run with the Audacy classic hits station.
What We Know: Taylor joined CBS-FM in July 2019 to host middays. Before that, he spent nearly two decades at 95.5 PLJ and hosted its final broadcast. Then, in June 2025, he moved to mornings as Brand Manager John Foxx shifted to afternoons. His final show aired today.
What’s at Stake: Mornings rank among the most valuable dayparts at any station. At CBS-FM, the chair also carries serious history, with Scott Shannon holding it before Foxx and Taylor. Moreover, this marks the station’s third morning change since late 2022. Consequently, the next host steps into a spotlight in the nation’s largest market.
What Remains Unclear: Audacy has not named a replacement or explained the decision. Likewise, the company hasn’t said whether Foxx or Music Director Jesse Addy could return to mornings. It’s also unclear whether Taylor keeps his voice work on Audacy’s Mets coverage and ABC-TV.
What It Means: Taylor remains one of New York radio’s most recognizable voices. In fact, he has spent more than 25 years on the air in the market. Meanwhile, CBS-FM still owns one of the city’s strongest classic hits brands. As a result, both sides now write their next chapter, and tri-state listeners will be paying close attention.
