Radio people already know fear. We face ratings books, budget meetings, and a market president who “has a few thoughts.” So, this year, skip the store-bought vampire. Instead, raid the building for ideas. Halloween is Saturday, so start planning now. Here is a countdown of the top eight radio costumes for 2026. First, a warning. The last one may ruin your party.
- The Human Prize Wheel
First, turn your torso into the most disappointing wheel at the remote. Cut a big circle from poster board and split it into slices. The options include “Free Sticker,” “Koozie,” “Try Again,” and “Meet the Overnight Jock.” Meanwhile, invite guests to give you a spin. Almost everyone will land on the sticker. Still, the line at your booth will grow. Also consider just falling over out of nowhere. That’s what prize wheels do best.
- The Puker
Next, meet the costume every cluster with a Top 40 station understands. He is the night guy who talks about Olivia Rodrigo as if she’s his actual friend. And he would be the first one to post a pic on IG with a dead celebrity. Start with a t-shirt that says, “Worth it for the Facebook views.” Make sure your haircut is about 20 years too young for you. In the end, just remember he did it for the audience. However, the audience never asked him to.
- Dead Air
Now for the quietest costume at the party. Dress in all black and wear a headset. Then stand perfectly still and say nothing. Hold the pose longer than feels comfortable. Soon, guests will whisper, “Is she okay?” Meanwhile, a former board op will start to sweat.
- @ShittyRadioJock2
Next comes the costume that creates real panic. Print the poop emoji logo on a paper bag to wear over your head, only cutting out eye holes. Then wander the party and quietly pull out your phone. Immediately, every radio person in the room will wonder if the Instagram account that roasts the industry will feature them. As a result, you will watch grown adults delete old promo photos in real time. Plus, nobody will make eye contact with you again.
- The AI DJ
Meanwhile, the robot has arrived, and it has a great attitude. Put on silver face paint and a name tag that reads “Al Gorithim” or “Elle Gorithim.” Then speak in a flawless, cheerful tone with zero feeling. For example, say “That was a song. Up next, another song.” In addition, mispronounce the name of every town within thirty miles. The eerier you sound, the more you’ve nailed it.
- The Funkmaster Flex at a Knicks Game
Now for the costume that is still trending. Grab a Knicks jacket and a bucket hat. Queue up a sound effect for bomb drops on command. Ask everyone, “Did anybody get that on video?” Put up your dukes and moonwalk backwards. Have a friend in a security shirt walk you toward the exit. Even so, keep the bomb drops coming.
- The Consultant with Ideas From the 1980s
Then comes the man with a plan from another decade. Wear shoulder pads, huge glasses, and a skinny tie. Carry a flip chart that says, “The Answer: Morning Zoo.” Still, he charges a very modern fee. In fact, he swears the strategy will “move the needle.” Therefore, nobody dares to say no.
- The Corporate HR Zoom Request
Finally, the scariest costume of 2026. Wear a blazer and a headset. Next, hang a poster-board Zoom frame around your face. Then pin a calendar invite to your chest that says “Quick Chat, 4:30 PM, No Agenda.” Last, carry a folder marked “Confidential” and ask everyone, “Do you have a minute?” As a result, the room will go quiet. Even the open bar will look nervous.
Happy Halloween
So, pick your costume wisely. Above all, remember that radio people can survive any scare except one. Happy Halloween week, and if you get an unexpected calendar invite with no agenda, call out sick.
