Hollywood 360 Brings Golden Age of Radio to Salem Radio Network

Salem Radio Network is bringing Hollywood 360 to stations nationwide.

Date:

Salem Radio Network is bringing Hollywood 360 to stations nationwide. The five-hour weekly show brings the Golden Age of Radio back to local dials on November 30th.

What We Know: Salem Radio Network will begin distributing Hollywood 360 to stations nationwide on Monday, November 30th, the company said Tuesday. First launched in 2009, the show now reaches more than 100 affiliates, according to Salem. Radio historian and producer Carl Amari and co-host Lisa Wolf lead the five-hour weekly program, which pairs restored dramas, mysteries, westerns and comedies with showbiz news and trivia games.

Likewise, Each edition packs in five half-hour broadcasts from series like Suspense, Sherlock Holmes, Gunsmoke, The Jack Benny Program, Escape and Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar. Humphrey Bogart, Lucille Ball, Cary Grant, Bette Davis, Henry Fonda and Elizabeth Taylor are among the vintage stars heard on the air. Amari pulls the episodes from his library of more than 100,000 shows assembled over nearly four decades.

What Remains Unclear: Salem hasn’t said which stations will carry Hollywood 360 or in which format. The release also doesn’t say whether the show’s 100-plus existing affiliates are part of this rollout. It lists a Monday, Nov. 30 launch but gives only a Saturday live window, so the first broadcast date isn’t clear. Moreover, Financial terms remained private.

What It Means: The launch signals that Salem sees room for nostalgia-driven programming in its national lineup. For stations, the show offers a way to add entertainment content without building a new program from scratch. Meanwhile, listeners who grew up with these broadcasts, or who are just discovering them, could find them on more local dials. Overall, the rollout suggests that old-time radio still has an audience in the era of podcasts, and that stories from decades ago can still compete for attention today.
