"Chris Oliviero brings vision and deep market leadership to the Chair, and our board reflects the full strength of broadcasting across New York."

Date:

Audacy executive Chris Oliviero will lead the New York State Broadcasters Association in 2027. The organization has announced its new officers and board of directors following its annual Fall Meeting.

What We Know: Oliviero, Audacy’s Chief Business Officer and New York Market President, will serve as Chair. He succeeds Chris Musial, Vice President and General Manager of WBBZ-TV, who will remain on the board. Meanwhile, Kristin Cantrell of Seven Mountains Media will serve as Vice Chair, Radio, while Chris McDonnell of WPIX-TV takes the Vice Chair, Television position. Jon Hitchcock of WNYT-TV and WNYA-TV will serve as Treasurer, with iHeartMedia’s Robert Morgan named Secretary. Additionally, the association welcomed four new directors: Chuck Benfer, Andria Langston, Ron Romines, and Laura Sheaffer. What They Said: “This is an exceptional team. Chris Oliviero brings vision and deep market leadership to the Chair, and our board reflects the full strength of broadcasting across New York. We are especially grateful to Chris Musial for his steady leadership and to our departing directors for their commitment. Together, we’re ready to make 2027 another remarkable year for our members and the communities they serve.” -NYSBA President/Executive Director Heidi Raphael

What Remains Unclear: The association hasn’t announced specific priorities or initiatives for Oliviero’s term. Further details about its 2027 agenda also remain unclear.

What It Means: Oliviero’s appointment gives Audacy another leadership presence within the broadcast industry’s state-level organizations. Moreover, the board brings together executives from radio and television companies across New York. The group will represent broadcasters as the industry navigates changes in audience habits, advertising, and distribution.
