Judge Jeanine Pirro, co-host of The Five on Fox News, criticized CNN for their coverage of special counsel Jack Smith’s visit to a Subway restaurant and its implications for the Trump Jan. 6 investigation. CNN spent significant time analyzing Smith’s lunch break with legal experts this week.
“The fact that they have to go to that level to interpret this as a message to Donald Trump, they suffer from Trump derangement syndrome,” she said. “They can’t stop with the Donald Trump stuff.”
On Tuesday, Donald Trump acknowledged that he is the subject of a federal investigation related to the Jan. 6, 2021, riots. He may face charges for his alleged involvement in attempts to overturn the 2020 election and his supporters’ violent attack on the U.S. Capitol.
“The fact that they (CNN) spent time interpreting a guy going to lunch as if all of us don’t go to lunch when we’re working is so stupid.”
Trump mentioned that Special Counsel Jack Smith had sent him a letter. The letter requested that he report to the Grand Jury in just four days, which Trump believes could lead to an arrest and indictment.
The former president did not reveal whether he plans to appear before the grand jury or what charges he may be facing. He stated that his lawyers informed him about Smith’s target letter on Sunday night.
