Last week, more than 300 passengers on a Delta Air Lines flight were stranded overnight after making an emergency landing in Alabama. One of those passengers was Salem Radio Network host Mike Gallagher.
Flights with passengers returning from Cabo San Lucas and Mexico City headed for Atlanta were diverted to Montgomery Regional Airport in Alabama due to weather risks on Thursday evening.
Due to the airport’s size, it did not have U.S. border and customs personnel available. After landing at roughly 10:30 PM, the passengers were stuck on board the aircraft until after 5 AM.
On social media, Gallagher shared that he was one of the several hundred passengers left on the airplane for more than seven hours. He called the situation “like something out of a horrible movie. Amazed the passengers are staying (relatively) calm. This is one for the ages, folks.”
In messages to those responding to him, Gallagher noted the conditions on the airplane were less than stellar, noting that the aircraft had run out of snacks and food around midnight.
Mike Gallagher later shared that Delta Air Lines had completely refunded his trip, along with everyone else left on the tarmac overnight.
“Quick update on the travel nightmare over 300 of us experienced in Montgomery, Alabama: True to their word, (Delta) reached out and refunded every penny of the entire trip,” the Salem Radio Network host shared. “That’s always been my experience with Delta, terrific customer service and definitely my preferred airline.”
