President Donald Trump is threatening to sue ABC News after its reporting about the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool resurfacing not going according to plan.
What We Know: Trump previously sued ABC News for comments made by George Stephanopoulos. That netted him a $16 million settlement. In a post on his Truth Social account, President Trump said he is preparing to sue the outlet for its coverage.
What They Said: “I spent approximately 16 Million Dollars, and it came out great, except for the Vandalism, which we are now fixing. It was also a much bigger job than originally envisioned, including the outer areas and sidewalks. We are preparing lawsuits against ABC for false reporting. I like their money, which will be given to the U.S. Treasury!” -President Donald Trump
What Remains Unclear: What about ABC News’ coverage triggered the president to threaten the lawsuit. It is also unclear if President Trump will follow through on his threat to sue the organization.
What It Means: The comments about a potential lawsuit come after he has continuously lobbed shots at the network’s Jonathan Karl over his latest book. Retribution: Donald Trump and the Campaign That Changed America was released earlier this year.
