Karl Ravech’s ESPN tenure appears to be ending. The longtime voice of Sunday Night Baseball is expected to be laid off as part of sweeping layoffs at ESPN according to multiple reports.
What We Know: Ravech joined ESPN in 1993 and built a three-decade career at the network. He anchored SportsCenter and Baseball Tonight for years before shifting into play-by-play. From 2022 to 2025, he served as the lead voice of Sunday Night Baseball. He also called the Little League World Series during his ESPN run. ESPN recently reformed their agreement with Major League Baseball dropping the Sunday Night Baseball broadcasts for out-of-market streaming rights.
What’s At Stake: Ravech is just the second name reported as part of ESPN’s roster cuts. The cuts come as the network absorbs the NFL Network as part of a 10% equity stake acquisition by the NFL.
What Remains Unclear: ESPN nor Ravech have not confirmed the layoff publicly.
What It Means: Ravech’s exit would mark another shift in ESPN’s baseball presence. The network already scaled back its schedule this year after opting out of its prior MLB package. It later reached a restructured deal with the league. Ravech recently signed on as a host and contributor to the Foul Territory Network.
