Multiple shows will broadcast live from the 9/11 Memorial.

Date:

NewsNation will mark the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with extensive live coverage from New York and Washington. The network will revisit the tragedy while honoring those who lost their lives and responded.

What We Know: NewsNation will air special programming throughout Friday, September 11th, beginning with Morning in America, anchored by Markie Martin from Chicago. Marni Hughes will then lead NewsNation Live from 9 AM to noon ET. The program will carry the annual moment of silence and reading of the names. Later, Connell McShane will anchor a three-hour NewsNation Live from the 9/11 Memorial beginning at 3 PM ET. Chris Cuomo will host CUOMO live from the memorial at 8 PM ET. At 9 PM, the network will air the multiplatform documentary 9/11 Remembered: 25 Years Later. What’s At Stake: The anniversary gives NewsNation an opportunity to showcase its reporting capabilities on a significant national story. Meanwhile, the coverage will place firsthand accounts and historical reporting at the center of its schedule.

What Remains Unclear: NewsNation hasn’t detailed if Vittert and Pavlich will broadcast their shows on-location from a 9/11-related venue, or if they will be in-studio.

What It Means: The programming reflects NewsNation’s effort to build a larger presence around major national events. Notably, the network will feature President Donald Trump and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani in the documentary. Alicia Nieves and Jessica Kartalija will report from the World Trade Center, while Kellie Meyer covers memorial events in Washington.
