Connoisseur Media Sells 94.3 WQCM to Family Life Ministries

"We already have three other strong stations serving the market, so we were open to discussions.”

Date:

Connoisseur Media is selling 94.3 WQCM to Family Life Ministries in a deal pending FCC approval. The sale is expected to close by the end of the year.

What We Know: Connoisseur Media is selling 94.3 WQCM, which previously aired a classic rock format, to Family Life Ministries. The Class A station operates with 3,500 watts, making it the weakest FM signal Connoisseur Media owns in the market. Meanwhile, Connoisseur Media will retain its other three stations: Live 96.7, Mix 95.1, and Oldies 96.3. The transaction remains subject to FCC approval, with the companies expecting it to close by the end of the year.

What They Said: “We were approached by Family Ministries, who wanted to expand their Christian-formatted radio broadcasts into the Hagerstown/Chambersburg market. We already have three other strong stations serving the market, so we were open to discussions.” -Connoisseur Media founder/CEO Jeff Warshaw

What Remains Unclear: The future programming lineup and branding for 94.3 WQCM haven’t been announced. Family Life Ministries also hasn’t detailed when it plans to launch its Christian format on the station following the transaction’s completion.

What It Means: The deal gives Family Life Ministries an FM signal to expand its Christian programming into the Hagerstown/Chambersburg market. For Connoisseur Media, the transaction reduces its local FM holdings to three stations while allowing the company to retain its remaining signals.
