Power 106 has cut morning co-host Rosecrans Vic according to his Instagram. His exit comes amid other reported cuts at Meruelo Media’s Los Angeles cluster.
What We Know: Victor Ulloa (Rosencrans Vic) launched the Rosecrans Ave. A hip-hop blog in 2014 and expanded to Dash Radio. That platform led Vic along with Letty Peniche, and DoKnow to start the Brown Bag Podcast in 2021. Two years later, Vic joined Power 106 in February 2023 alongside incumbent morning host Peniche. Since then, he has co-hosted Brown Bag Mornings for more than three years. However, according to his Instagram, Vic departs from the program by Meruelo Media.
What They Said: Rosencrans Vic (via Instagram): “I am no longer on Brown Bag Mornings. A show I co-created, is choosing to go on without me. On Friday I was informed that I would be taken off air. To be honest, I wasn’t blindsided, I had slowly been pushed out for months, if not longer. This wasn’t due to a lack of performance, professionalism, skill or talent. However, segments, assignments and opportunities were being taken from me constantly with no explanation. This continued until the job itself was taken from me. I told management I felt like I was slowly being pushed out. They assured me that wasn’t happening. My gut told me different and I was ultimately and unfortunately correct.”
Rosencrans Vic (via Instagram): “I am so grateful to have spoken to Los Angeles every morning for over 3 years, being apart of your morning routine and creating that connection is what I will miss most. I’ve learned countless lessons throughout this experience, but none more important than people will use you to get where they want to be, but will discard you as soon as soon as they can. 3 people went to Power based on the success of our podcast, and now 2 are gone. You do the math. So if you tune in to Brown Bag Mornings tomorrow you won’t hear me, or you might because it won’t be a live episode. They are currently attempting to figure out how to go on air without me.”
What Remains Unclear: It remains unclear whether Meruelo Media will address Vic’s departure publicly. Details on the other cuts across the cluster also remain scarce. Earlier this summer, reports surfaced that Power 106 lost its Mediabase Rhythmic reporting status. It remains unclear whether the cuts are directly tied to the station losing its ability to report spins to industry airplay charts relied on by labels, managers and promoters.
What It Means: Vic’s exit breaks up the podcast trio that once powered a major-market morning show. As a result, the move raises questions about Power 106’s long-term commitment to the Brown Bag brand. Moreover, it adds to a growing list of cuts across Meruelo’s Los Angeles stations.
