George Santos Admits To Piers Morgan That He Is ‘Terrible Liar’

In a new interview with television host Piers Morgan, Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) admitted to being a “terrible liar” and fabricating parts of his resume. The interview, which aired on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” on Monday night, sees Morgan pushing the embattled lawmaker to reflect on his past lies and take responsibility for them.

Santos has been under intense scrutiny since before being sworn into office, with questions raised about his background and finances. In December, he admitted to embellishing his resume, including details about his education and work history. This has prompted bipartisan calls for his resignation from his congressional colleagues.

During the interview, Morgan confronted Santos about his campaign claim that his mother died of cancer because of being at the World Trade Center during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Morgan cited a full record of everyone who was there that day, and Santos’ mother was not listed.

Santos responded that he was 13 years old at the time and that he didn’t know if his mother lied on her visa application. Morgan also challenged Santos’ claims of being “Jew-ish,” citing direct quotes in which Santos described himself as Jewish.

Santos complained about losing his privacy and claimed he wouldn’t have run for office if he knew what would happen. He also admitted that being George Santos on the streets of America is uncomfortable.

Santos claimed that he did not lie to deceive people, but rather to be accepted by the local party. However, Morgan disagreed, stating that the whole thing was about tricking people.

Despite the calls for his resignation and ongoing investigations into his finances, Santos has remained adamant that he will not step down. Last month, Republicans in Nassau County, which falls in Santos’s 3rd Congressional District, called on him to resign.

James O’Keefe Officially Out at Project Veritas

James O’Keefe, the founder of the investigative group Project Veritas, revealed on Monday that he would be leaving the organization and suggested that he might embark on a new journalism venture in the future. As per its website, Project Veritas is dedicated to carrying out investigations that expose corruption, dishonesty, waste, fraud, self-dealing, and other types of misconduct in both public and private institutions.

OANN reported that O’Keefe disclosed in Mamaroneck, New York, to his former team and the Project Veritas Board of Directors that he had been divested of his decision-making power and removed from the board of directors by the board. As a result, he no longer had a job at Project Veritas.

According to O’Keefe, he gave an ultimatum to the board to resign, but it went unheeded. He also suggested that he had plans, stating that “Our mission will go on. I have not finished. The mission may take on a different name.”

The controversy surrounding O’Keefe’s departure follows allegations made by 16 staffers in a letter dated February 6, accusing O’Keefe of being “outright cruel” to members of the group and becoming a “power-drunk tyrant.” On February 8, New York Magazine’s Intelligencer website reported that O’Keefe had taken a paid leave from his leadership position while the board weighed his future with the company.

Project Veritas released a statement last week, stating that the board and management were constantly evaluating the best path forward for the organization.

The O’Keefe situation prompted a Twitter user named “Swig” to post a cease-and-desist letter on social media. The letter was from a law firm representing donors and was addressed to the Project Veritas Board of Directors. It expressed apprehension regarding any attempts to oust the founder.

However, Daniel Strack, the Project Veritas Executive Director, released a statement on February 15, asserting that James had not been removed from Project Veritas and that he would not take time off unless forced to do so.

Notably, the controversy came after the release of videos of a Project Veritas sting operation allegedly showing a Pfizer research director on hidden camera spilling COVID secrets and having a meltdown when confronted.

The most widely viewed Project Veritas video featured ABC News anchor Amy Robach’s “hot mic” admission to her studio crew that she possessed the entire Jeffrey Epstein story, but her network chose to suppress it due to pressure from the British Royal family.

Peter King: NFL Confident In Opening Night Ratings Jump No Matter Who Chiefs Play

We’re still a few months away from the NFL announcing the full 2023 regular season schedule, but one of the questions lingering ahead of the start of the new season is who will the Kansas City Chiefs host on opening night.

The Chiefs will be the home team against the Bills, Bengals, Dolphins, Bears, Lions and Eagles in addition to their usual AFC West matchups.

In Peter King’s Football Morning in America newsletter on Monday, there’s speculation that we could see a Super Bowl rematch on opening night between the Chiefs and Eagles. But King wrote that if the NFL goes with that, it would be a bit of a surprise as the league obviously wants to preserve some matchups for the defending champs for other prime TV windows.

“The NFL has a lot of network mouths to feed, and could use KC games versus the Eagles, Bills and Bengals as tentpole events for the NBC, CBS and ESPN schedules,” King wrote. “Maybe Eagles-KC on an October Sunday night on NBC, Bengals-KC on a CBS doubleheader game in a November Sunday late-afternoon window, and Bills-KC as the highlight of the ESPN slate.”

King mentioned that the NFL usually tends to keep certain marquee matchups off the opening night slate. But the NFL does want the best possible ratings for the first regular season game of the year. So regardless of who the Chiefs line up against in September, the league seems confident that it will do well with viewers.

“One league person told me something to keep in mind about the opener: In the last two years, the NFL put ratings-drivers on opening night—and the one thing the league won’t want is a headline a day or two after the game reading, Ratings down 11 percent for NFL opener,” King wrote. “However, the fact that the 2022 game drew an audience of a modest (for an opener) 21.3 million for the non-competitive Bills-Rams game probably means the NFL will get an increase even if Kansas City’s foe is not the Bengals, Bills or Eagles.”

Should Political Commentators Hold The Same Beliefs On and Off Air?

Political Commentators are the faces of their respective news organizations, and as such, they are expected to uphold certain values and beliefs in their professional lives. However, when it comes to their personal lives, the lines between what is expected of them and what they believe can sometimes blur. The question is, should news commentators be expected to uphold the same values in their personal lives as they do on the air? 

Political analysts are prominent individuals whose views can greatly influence public opinion. As representatives of the people, they must uphold a certain standard of trustworthiness and reliability with their audience. Consequently, their convictions and principles ought to correspond with the views they express on public platforms. If their private beliefs contradict the image they project on air, it may be perceived as hypocritical and could potentially harm their reputation as well as the credibility of the media brand that employs them.

Tucker Carlson is recognized for his conservative stance while on the air, but some say privately, he has conveyed more centrist positions. In 2018, Forbes published an opinion piece called “Tucker Carlson on Why He’s Actually a Liberal — And Why Trump Just Isn’t That Interesting” . Carlson is quoted as saying, “I think I have much more in common with 1970s-era liberals than most people at The Washington Post.”

Rachel Maddow, a liberal commentator on MSNBC, has criticized both Democrats and Republicans for their foreign policy decisions in her book “Drift: The Unmooring of American Military Power”. Some may argue that her criticism of both parties makes her more credible and trustworthy, while others may view it as a lack of consistency in her beliefs.

Juan Williams, a liberal commentator on Fox News, has been critical of some liberal policies and has expressed support for conservative positions such as school choice. Again, some may view this as hypocritical, while others may see it as him being true to his beliefs.

On the other hand, news commentators are human beings with their own beliefs and values that may differ from what they express on air. They have a right to express their opinions freely, and their personal beliefs should not necessarily reflect their professional persona. It can be argued that their ability to separate their personal beliefs from their professional responsibilities is a sign of professionalism.

The recent court filing in Dominion Voting Systems’ $1.6 billion lawsuit against Fox News revealed that the channel’s highest-ranking executives and most prominent stars privately ridiculed claims of voter fraud in the 2020 election, despite allowing lies about the presidential contest to be promoted on air.

Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham openly mocked the lies being pushed by former President Donald Trump’s camp asserting that the election was rigged. Rupert Murdoch, the chairman of Fox Corporation, also did not believe Trump’s election lies and even floated the idea of having Carlson, Hannity, and Ingraham appear together in prime time to declare Joe Biden as the rightful winner of the election.

This revelation raises questions about the credibility of Fox News and its commentators. While some may argue that the commentators were simply doing their job by reporting the news and keeping their personal beliefs separate, others may view it as hypocritical and deceptive.

Many people feel that the question of should news commentators be expected to uphold the same values in their personal lives as they do on the air is crucial in ensuring that the information they convey to their viewers is truthful, precise, and dependable. Additionally, political commentators are obligated to lead by example and exhibit honesty and responsibility in their public statements, setting a positive standard for their audience to follow.

Nick Wright: NBA All-Star Game, Load Management Are Media’s Fault

The NBA held its all-star weekend this past weekend in Salt Lake City, and as has become normal practice over the years, the talking point come Monday was similar to that of the Pro Bowl in the NFL – how do we make this event matter to people again?

The final score in the NBA all-star game was indicative of a game in which defense, and in some regards competitiveness, has become an afterthought. The dunk contest, which is a highlight of the Saturday night festivities, wasn’t exactly star-studded. Only four players (Trey Murphy III, Kenyon Martin Jr., Jericho Sims and Mac McLung) took part in the contest, and none of them played in the all-star game on Saturday.

Filling in for Colin Cowherd on The Herd on Monday, Nick Wright said the media is to blame for NBA all-star weekend losing its luster and lacking star power in some of the marquee support events.

“The media is going to spend all day echoing those sentiments and crushing the players while taking no personal responsibility for where we’re at across sports in all exhibition games,” Wright said. “And in the NBA in particular where the dunk contest no one wants to participate, the all-star game no one wants to try. Hell regular season games you don’t know who’s gonna play and who’s not gonna play.”

“The all-star game used to be competitive, and I’m not talking about the 80s and 90s,” Wright added. “Yes it was competitive then but I’m talking about 2010, 2012. Up until a decade ago, this was a competitive game that people talked about.”

Somewhere along the line, Wright said, the media hyper focusing on championships being the be-all and end-all in terms of determining how great a player is seeped into the mindset of players. And then you wonder why the all-star game turns out to be a snooze fest and why star players believe in load management.

“It’s all that matters,” Wright said. “That’s what all of sports commentary has become and then we act shocked when the players act accordingly.”

“All we give you credit for is championships. All we give you credit for is the destination,” Wright mentioned. “Nothing for the journey. It does not matter what you do in the regular season. It does not matter what your full body of work is. You either win the title or you’re considered some different level of disappointment or failure.”

In Wright’s eyes, the NBA players understand the focus on titles didn’t used to be at the forefront. But now that it is the case, the media shouldn’t be surprised when players don’t want to put the same competitive effort into a glorified exhibition than they do regular season and postseason contests. Wright said it was funny how some in media don’t at least acknowledge how they’ve aided in the shift in mindset.

“Of course anything that is not directly related to a championship pursuit is going to not just become secondary or even tertiary, it’s gonna become forgotten. And then we in the media act like we’ve got nothing to do with it.”

Ben Shaprio Continues Feud Over Chelsea Handler’s Happiness

Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro has reiterated his criticism of comedian Chelsea Handler’s decision to remain childless. Handler recently posted a satirical video on Twitter titled “Day in the Life of a Childless Woman,” which received over 10.8 million views. While the video was intended to be comedic, Shapiro and others took offense to it.

According to Mediate, during a recent episode of “The Ben Shapiro Show,”  the commentator insisted that Handler is “very lonely.” He cited her video as evidence that she is “miserable” and “drowns her sorrows in enormous barrels of wine.” He also pointed out that he himself is happily married and expecting his fourth child.

Shapiro went on to criticize Handler’s tendency to “post cringe about how happy she is.” He argued that truly happy people don’t feel the need to constantly tell others how happy they are. He then mocked Handler’s claim that his criticism had helped her cause of remaining childless.

“I will just note the final results here. Happily married for nearly 15 years. My wife is currently pregnant with our fourth child,” Shapiro said. “She’s a single 47-year-old woman who drowns her sorrows in enormous barrels of wine. Again, the proof is in the pudding.”

Handler, for her part, responded to the backlash by posting another video on Twitter in which she thanked Shapiro for helping her avoid the need for birth control. She also made light of his comments about her personal life.

“She is a very unhappy person who just keeps going online to post cringe about how happy she is. See, here’s the thing about happy people. They don’t spend their whole life telling you how happy they are while their eyes tell you a different story. And that is Chelsea Handler in a nutshell,” Shapiro added.

Matt Ryan Eyeing Broadcasting Options

Could Colts quarterback Matt Ryan be the next player-turned-broadcaster? It’s a possibility.

The New York Post reported Monday that Ryan is currently weighing his options between suiting up for the last year of his contract and retiring. But Ryan apparently does have an interest in transitioning to broadcasting.

Ryan likely wouldn’t end up on a number one broadcast team. Andrew Marchand wrote in his piece that the former Atlanta Falcon would have to prove himself in order to be worthy of Tom Brady/Tony Romo/Troy Aikman analyst money if one of those roles opened up in the future.

Brady is taking a gap year in 2023 after announcing his retirement and will hop into the top FOX booth in 2024, forcing Greg Olsen to be reassigned.

With Sean Payton leaving FOX as a studio analyst to coach the Broncos, there’s at least one opening on TV for Ryan if he wanted it. But maybe he would be happy initially in the number three or four booth or on FOX NFL Kickoff to just learn the ropes and develop.

Civic Media Signs Asset Purchase Agreement In Expansion Effort

Civic Media announced a major milestone in its year-long endeavor to establish Wisconsin’s premier statewide hometown radio network. Civic Media has signed an Asset Purchase Agreement with Magnum Media, which has been filed with the FCC, to purchase radio stations in four Wisconsin media markets. 

With this acquisition, Civic Media will have a total of 17 stations, providing news, talk, sports, and music programming with a community-driven objective to inform and entertain listeners across almost the entire state of Wisconsin.

The assets that Civic Media will acquire include two FM signals in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls, WI, which are the WCFW 105.7 FM station (now broadcasting in HD under the callsign WEZY) and the recently built 93.5 FM translator that will simulcast the HD2 subchannel. Civic Media will also acquire WRJN 1400 AM and 99.9 FM, broadcasting from Racine, the 98.1 FM translator rebroadcasting from Kenosha, and the Victory Avenue broadcast studios and tower site in Racine.

In La Crosse, WI, Civic Media will obtain 1490 AM “The Eagle” and the associated AM land and tower facility. Finally, W239CV-FM, built at a frequency of 102.5 FM in Oshkosh, will be acquired by Civic Media, and will rebroadcast its existing WVXN 1520 AM station in New Holstein and 96.5 FM in Appleton.

“Dave Magnum and I have been actively negotiating this deal since we first met last Summer in La Crosse,” Mike Crute, Civic Media President said in a statement. “I just wanted to buy one radio station in my college town. Since that day, Dave and I have had a dozen clandestine meetings.  We’ve spent 40 hours in the most complex negotiations I have ever been a part of. I literally married my wife after fewer dates, and I had to ask less often.”

“My family, co-workers, and I will always consider it an honor to have augmented historic WRJN by adding the 98.1 Kenosha and 99.9 Racine translators and being recruited by the Green Bay Packers to become an affiliate,” said Dave Magnum, President of Magnum Media.

Quincy, IL Gets FM Sports Talk Station March 1st

The lone radio station in the portfolio of Gray Television is switching to sports talk.

According to Radio Insight, Quincy, Illinois’ WGEM-FM will go from news and talk to sports talk on March 1, becoming SportsRadio 105.1.

The station will carry ESPN Radio programming after 9 a.m. and will be the radio home to St. Louis Cardinals baseball, Quincy University athletics and area high school sports.

One local show will air. WGEM SportsCenter will be live from 7-9 a.m. and will be hosted by Ryan Mumma.

Duane Kuiper Traveling More With Giants in 2023

Longtime San Francisco Giants broadcaster Duane Kuiper will hit the road more frequently in 2023.

After not travelling until nearly the conclusion of the 2022 season, Kuiper will work 22 road games with partner Mike Krukow on the team’s television broadcast. Krukow will remain in the San Francisco studio for the 2022 away games Kuiper will announce.

Kuiper missed time last year for a medical condition that required chemotherapy. Kuiper believes his strong bond with Krukow will continue to work while the pair are in separate locations.

 “I guarantee you, as long as we’ve known each other, it will be just like we’re sitting side by side,” Kuiper told the San Francisco Chronicle.

The 2023 season will begin with games in Yankee Stadium and also in Chicago against the White Sox. From there, Kuiper’s trips will include stops in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Arizona, all short trips from San Francisco while Dave Flemming will continue to serve as the primary television voice for the franchise on the road.

The 72-year-old Kuiper called all but 11 road games from San Francisco last year, and said the set up has its shortcomings.

“It’s just no fun when you’re calling a certain play and you don’t actually know what happened,” Kuiper said.
