Jen Psaki: Hunter Biden’s Laptop Story Not Relevant for Media

Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki appeared on “Meet the Press” Sunday to discuss current and relevant news topics including the Hunter Biden laptop story.

Psaki, who officially joined MSNBC this fall, said that when she was browsing some of the latest headlines across the country, Biden’s laptop story was nowhere to be found.

“The truth is, I looked at a bunch of local front pages this morning, and if you look at the front page in Nevada, they’re talking about [former President Donald] Trump’s rally there, and what it means for candidates in turning out the vote,” Psaki said via Fox News Digital.

Psaki famously deflected questions about the Hunter Biden story during her tenure as White House Press Secretary. 

According to the National Review, Psaki told a New York Post reporter, “I know this is your favorite topic, but, again, it is still the purview of the gallerist. We still do not know and will not know who purchases any paintings and the president remains proud of his son.”

The Washington Post reported last week that multiple federal agents said they had gathered enough evidence to charge the president’s son with tax crimes and firearms crimes.

Former President Donald Trump took credit for the demise of late-night comedy shows Monday criticizing Stephen Colbert, Trevor Noah, and Jimmy Kimmel as three hosts with “very little talent.”

Trump also congratulated Fox News host Greg Gutfeld for his recent ratings victory which essentially elevated his status to the king of late-night television.  

“It was my great honor to have destroyed the ratings of Late Night ‘Comedy’ shows. There is nothing funny about the shows, the three hosts have very little talent,” Trump wrote on TRUTH Social. 

According to Mediate, Trump did not mention Colbert, Noah, or Kimmel by name, instead he “re-truthed” an article published by Fox News Digital which discussed how the three hosts “openly root for Democrats.”

“When Jimmy Fallon for having humanized Trump, and his ratings soared, the Radical left forced him to apologize – that was effectively the end of the Tonight Show,” said Trump.

Last month, Trevor Noah announced that he was stepping from the “Daily Show” after seven years. Noah said he was leaving the show because he wanted to do more stand-up comedy in other cities and countries.

In August, Gutfeld scored higher ratings than “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on ABC, The “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on NBC, and Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” with Trevor Noah.

Megyn Kelly: Free Speech Is Under Attack

SiriusXM host Megyn Kelly said free speech is under attack in ways that people can’t even imagine. On Friday, Kelly discussed a case that the U.S. Supreme Court will soon hear regarding a website designer who refused services to an LGTBQ+ couple because of her religious beliefs. 

According to The Advocate, The Supreme Court the case which centers on Denver area graphic design artist Lorie Smith will decide if LGBTQ+ people are protected from discrimination in business or whether a business owner can refuse to serve a group of people based on religious beliefs. 

“This is one of the biggest cases this term,” said Kelly. “She (Smith) says that she has a religious exemption to designing websites for LGBTQ couples who are getting married because they do not align with her Christian faith.” 

Kelly said this story is similar to a Supreme Court case involving Masterpiece Cakeshop in Lakewood, Colorado. Five years ago, the owner refused to design a wedding cake for a gay couple based on his religious beliefs. 

“This case is kind of the next iteration of that,” said Kelly. “This case could have huge implications on when the government or colleges taking government money can force you to say or do things that don’t align with your own beliefs.” 

“It’s happening more and more in America today,” she added.

FOX Reveals NLDS Broadcasting Assignments

The National League Divisional Series will be determined on FOX’s networks beginning on Tuesday and as a result, we now know who will call each series.

The first NLDS matchup to get underway will be the Philadelphia Phillies travelling to Atlanta for a battle with the defending World Champion Braves. That game begins at 1:07p ET on Tuesday and will feature FOX’s A-Team of Joe Davis, John Smoltz and Ken Rosenthal.

The other series is a West Coast tilt between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers. That game begins on Tuesday at 9:37p ET on FS1. The broadcast team will be Adam Amin, AJ Pierzynski and Tom Verducci.

Mad Dog Russo Has Had Enough Analytics on ESPN MLB Coverage

During a diatribe about the late-season collapse of the New York Mets, SiriusXM host Chris “Mad Dog” Russo turned his anger towards ESPN and its coverage of the MLB Wild Card series’.

Russo was not happy with a perceived overreliance on analytics and advanced statistics during its coverage of the postseason.

“With the ESPN broadcast, can we stop with the analytics? I don’t care about every line drive that’s 109 miles per hour off the bat,” Mad Dog said. “Enough with the analytics! Let us watch the ball game! I know when the ball is hit hard. I don’t need you to have the speed or the exit velocity! I don’t need it! Or what the revolution is with the spin rate. Oh my god! You think Walter Johnson cared about a spin rate? How ’bout (Babe) Ruth? (Joe) DiMaggio? I mean come on! Mickey Mantle! (Willie) Mays! Enough with the nonsense! Let me watch the ball game!”

Russo currently appears on ESPN’s First Take as a regular contributor, often getting into shouting matches with the show’s Stephen A. Smith.

ESPN Extends Michael Wilbon, Jalen Rose Contracts

On Monday, ESPN announced that it had come to agreements with Michael Wilbon and Jalen Rose to continue their multiple roles with the network.

The network announced the contracts within an announcement concerning the return of the NBA Countdown pregame show. That memo revealed that for the second consecutive year, Mike Greenberg, Stephen A. Smith, Michael Wilbon, Jalen Rose and Adrian Wojnarowski will be the team that will lead the Friday, Saturday and Sunday editions of NBA Countdown on ESPN and ABC.

Greenberg, Smith, Wilbon, Rose and Wojnarowski will also lead NBA Countdown on Wednesdays in October. It was announced previously that Malika Andrews with host the Wednesday programs beginning in November with analysts members Richard Jefferson, Chiney Ogwumike and Kendrick Perkins. Wojnarowski will also appear on the Wednesday shows.

Toucher and Rich “Quietly Optimistic” Mike Lockhart Will Be Brought Back

On Monday’s Toucher and Rich, the show’s co-hosts spent a segment discussing their shock of the news that longtime producer Mike Lockhart was let go on Friday. However, due to some behind-the-scenes lobbying, there is some optimism the show might be able to reunite with him.

Co-host Rich Shertenlieb praised Lockhart for everything he does to get Toucher and Rich on the air and sounding as good as people have come to expect.

“Mike is a production mastermind.” said Shertenlieb. “He was the secret sauce behind what made Toucher and Rich really stand out.”

Shertenlieb would compare losing Lockhart to a band losing their drummer five minutes before a show at Wembley Stadium and being told to “figure it out.”

While Shertenlieb was describing how important Lockhart was to the show’s production, co-cost Fred Toucher sounded as if he still held out hope for Lockhart’s return after the show began some lobbying.

“The hope is that behind the scenes, we can get some things going and get Mike back,” Toucher said. “It was a complete shock to us. We didn’t know what was happening. I’m actually quietly optimistic that we could get Lockhart back here.”

Audacy New York has announced an FM simulcast for 1010 WINS will begin on Thursday, October 27th. Listeners will be able to hear the station on 92.3 FM, which will improve it’s reach throughout New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

92.3 FM is currently the home ALT 92.3, an alternative station, which can still be heard on 92.3 HD-2 after October 27th. WNYL-FM has 6,000 watts of power.

The station has also announced a new agreement with SAG-AFTRA has allowed a combined newsroom of anchors and reporters to provide coverage on both 1010 WINS and 880 WCBS.

New York Mets television announcer Gary Cohen had a strong opinion on Mets manager Buck Showalter’s decision to have umpires check San Diego Padres pitcher Joe Musgrove for an illegal substance while trailing in Game 3 of the National League Wild Card Series Sunday, saying “it smacked of desperation” calling the situation “embarrassing” before adding “if you’re going to pull a stunt like that, you better be right and Buck wasn’t right”. WFAN midday host Brandon Tierney said it was extremely unlike Cohen to take a stance of that magnitude.

“Now here’s the thing about Gary. Gary has no time for sports radio debates. That is not Gary Cohen. He is an amazing play-by-player for the Mets and Seton Hall. I remember I had him on my old show years ago, right? I forget what was going on with the Mets but something was going wrong — like usual — and I’m being me. And he basically said, and I’m paraphrasing, ‘I have no time for this type of conjecture’. Something like that. And all respect to Gary, but Gary’s not’s a sports radio guy. He doesn’t like debating like we do and have to do. He’s just different like that.”

Cohen was booed by Mets fans, who were stationed behind the SNY desk as the postgame show aired live, while making his comments after the team lost the series-deciding contest. He is widely regarded as one of the best local announcers in baseball, as the SNY booth of Cohen, Ron Darling, and Keith Hernandez was named the best local announcing crew by The Athletic subscribers in 2020.
