Jomboy Media’s Jerry Blevins to Join SNY Booth for New York Mets Broadcast

Jerry Blevins, the current co-host of the Shea Station podcast with Jomboy Media, will join Gary Cohen tonight in the booth for the New York Mets game against the Miami Marlins.

Blevins tweeted the news and his excitement on Tuesday morning.

Blevins, a former major league relief pitcher of thirteen years, spend four of his last five seasons with the franchise before retiring in April of 2021. He joined the Jomboy Media family with the launch of the Shea Station podcast in August of 2021.

John Kincade Forced Off the Air Due to Fire Alarm

When The John Kincade Show returned for the nine o’clock hour on Tuesday morning, the discussion was intended to be about the Philadelphia Eagles roster. However, the 97.5 Fanatic fire alarm had other plans.

The station was interrupted by a fire alarm that flashed throughout the building and quickly forced the show to exit the building.

“The alarms are going off. Hopefully everything’s all right,” Kincade said.

“I don’t recall getting an email,” co-host Jamie Lynch added.

Kincade attempted to continue his regularly scheduled segment before it became clear that someone informed Kincade to leave the building. He quickly interrupted and said “We are going to be exiting the building,” before getting out of his chair and doing so. The station switched to ESPN Radio programming and the national feed of Keyshawn, JWill and Max.

The station returned after about five minutes noting that the alarm turned out to be just a drill.

“As we were walking back in she said it was a false alarm,” Lynch said.

“They did it on purpose, though, because they were timing us,” Kincade complained. “There’s a woman at the door with her cell phone, and I go, ‘What are you timing?’ She said, ‘The exit of the building.’ Okay.”

Grace Curley: Chris Cuomo ‘Two Years Too Late’ On Self Reflection

During his appearance on the debut of the On With Kara Swisher podcast, Chris Cuomo admitted interviewing his brother, then-New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, on CNN was a conflict of interest. Radio host Grace Curley thought that was an obvious admission by the former CNN host.

“I see this New York Post story. ‘Chris Cuomo: Interviewing Brother Was Conflict Of Interest ‘All Day Long’. Congrats? You guys were two years late to what we were all talking about,”
Curley said. “Should you get a Profiles in Courage Award? Should we keep the Cuomo Bridge the same name because of that? I don’t think so. It’s a little too late.”

Curley also added the Cuomo’s seem to be attempting to get conservatives on their side by bashing President Biden, but said people won’t forget how the brothers spoke highly of the now-President during the 2020 election. She also pointed out the Cuomo brothers trying to constantly stay in the spotlight or in the news.

Chris Cuomo is slated to begin hosting his new show on NewsNation on Monday, October 3rd. The former CNN host has received backlash after saying CNN is making a mistake by returning to its centrist roots.

Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki raised eyebrows with her candor while discussing the 2022 midterm elections this weekend on Meet The Press, and conservative radio host Howie Carr took note, giving her the slightest bit of credit.

“Isn’t it funny how Jen Psaki has evolved since her time behind the lectern in the White House Press Briefing Room came to an end?”, Carr said. “If you asked her then how Democrats would fare in the upcoming midterm elections, she’d give you a long non-answer or say she’d have to circle back with you on that one. But now on NBC’s Meet The Press, Psaki seems to have found some religion.”

Carr then played a clip from Psaki saying if voters are focused on who is the more outrageous candidates, like Marjorie Taylor Greene, Democrats will win. She then added if voters view the midterm as a referendum on the job President Biden has done since taking over the White House, Democrats will lose.

“Spoken like a true democrat,” Carr said. “Can’t be honest about her own party without giving a jab to the GOP.”

FOX Sports Boasts Most-Watched College Football Window with Big Noon Saturday

FOX Sports announced that their college football premiere viewing window, Big Noon Saturday, has seen a strong start to 2022.

Big Noon Saturday grabbed 4,378,000 viewers on FOX this week for the Maryland-Michigan game. That result brings the network’s first four games average viewership to 6,260,000, up 6% from 2021 and rates as the most-watched window in college football.

FOX Sports also noted that the network’s college football pregame show, Big Noon Kickoff, boasts an average of 1,331,000 viewers each week during its final hour. That is an increase of 15% from last year, thru the first four games of the season.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Dirty Mo Media To Launch Three New Podcasts with Cadence13

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s media company, Dirty Mo Media, has signed a seven-figure podcast deal with Cadence13. As part of that deal, DMM will launch three new podcasts this Fall.

Axios reports that Dirty Mo Media, which launched in 2013, is expanding from its current four podcast lineup to seven, with three new ones that will focus on more than motorsports. Those podcasts will try and capture the passions of Southern sports fans by discussing college football and more.

This will build upon DMM’s current offerings of The Dale Jr. Download, Door Bumper Clear, The Burton Continuum and Speed Street.

“I think Dale Jr. has that ability to resonate with people beyond motorsports,” Mike Davis, President and Executive Producer of Dirty Mo Media said. “He’s “one of those athletes that transcends sports, and there’s not a lot of them out there.”

Jeff Wade Promoted to Director of Programming for WBAL, Scott Masteller Reduces Role

WBAL News Director Jeff Wade has been promoted to Director of Programming. He takes the reigns from Scott Masteller, who is stepping into a part-time role with the station’s sports efforts. WBAL currently holds the rights for the Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Ravens, and Navy football.

“It’s the honor of a lifetime to be given the opportunity to lead this outstanding team of broadcasters and build on the foundation Scott has laid,” Wade said. “I’m excited to get to work and continue to make WBAL Newsradio Batlimore’s go-to destination for insightful information and smart, thoughtful commentary.”

Wade joined WBAL in 2017 after a career focused mostly in the northeast, with stops at stations in New Hampshire and Portland, Maine.

“With Scott transitioning to the next phase of his career at WBAL Newsradio and Jeff having already tackled a similar opportunity earlier in his career, I am wildly confident that our listeners will continue to enjoy the best in local news, talk and sports on WBAL Newsradio,” Hearst President and General Manager Dan Joerres said.

Wade will continue to serve as the station’s News Director in addition to his new role as Director of Programming.

Scott Masteller had led WBAL Radio since February 2015. Prior to arriving in Baltimore, he served as a programming executive for ESPN Radio. He also previously programmed stations in Dallas and Portland. Masteller had planned to lighten his schedule for quite some time. In addition to working with the station’s play-by-play properties, Scott will also be involved doing talent coaching.

Red Sox/Yankees Second Largest Sunday Night Baseball Rating Of Season

Sunday’s edition of Sunday Night Baseball between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees on ESPN saw its second largest audience of the season.

Viewership peaked at 2.7 million between 7:45 PM-8:00 PM while Aaron Judge was at bat. Judge is chasing the American League and franchise record for single season home runs. He currently sits at 60 while the record is 61.

Sunday’s audience was up 47% from a comparable Red Sox and Yankees broadcast a year ago. The game averaged 2.2 million viewers, second only to a game played by the same two franchises in April this year, which saw an average of 2.487 million.

ESPN2’s KayRod Cast saw 243,000 viewers on average. That number is the third largest for the season.

ESPN’s season finale of Sunday Night Baseball will be this Sunday as the Mets face the Braves.

Dan Le Batard: I Don’t Need Colleagues To Clean Up Home Run Record

Some people in the sports media are trying to rewrite baseball history. Plenty have argued that if and when Aaron Judge hits his 62nd home run, he should be recognized as the single season home run champ in Major League Baseball history. It is a point of view Dan Le Batard had no trouble dismissing on Tuesday’s episode of The Dan Patrick Show.

Le Batard, who was dressed as the Mad Hatter for a bit on his own show later in the day, told Patrick that he didn’t need his colleagues that are more nostalgic and romantic for Major League Baseball to try and convince him of what is and isn’t legit.

“For their time, the best player I ever saw was Barry Bonds and I don’t need you to clean that up for me with some of the mythologies of how competitive people might cheat in the margins because they are super competitive about being competitive.”

Barry Bonds hit 73 home runs in 2001. Many assume that was achieved with the help of performance-enhancing drugs.

Dan Le Batard is not so precious about how the record was achieved. He acknowledges that PED use is cheating, but doesn’t dismiss the accomplishments they lead to.

“It’s not that I don’t have a problem with it,” he said. “It’s that I lost my Hall of Fame vote because we were arguing the merits of whether these guys would go through the pharmacy to be competitive when McGwire and Sosa stole the sport from Bonds when they were cheating. He started cheating too and he was better than them when he was cheating. He was better than them when he wasn’t cheating. He was better than anybody I’ve ever seen, Aaron Judge included.”

He zeroed in on the treatment of Bonds specifically, revealing that when he was guest hosting Pardon The Interruption once, ESPN brass was unhappy that he asked why the network was comfortable burying Bonds based on circumstantial evidence, but let Lance Armstrong, who he said had “all this circumstantial evidence and a little more proof,” host the ESPY Awards.

The use of steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs bothers plenty of media members. Dan Le Batard is not one of them. In fact, he wonders why anyone would assume that steroids completely disappeared from American sports after Major League Baseball began testing for them.

“It’s funny to me that we don’t ask any questions of Pujols or Brady or any of these guys or women in their 40s where it’s like ‘how have we cheated science so much that these people have perfected a way to age with grace in sports in a way we wish we all could?’.”

Buster Olney Bristles At NJ.com Report ESPN Asked MLB To Continue Yankees Rain Delay

Plenty of media coverage has surrounded New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge’s chase for the single-season franchise and American League home run record. Sunday’s game against the Red Sox entered a lengthy rain delay during Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN, which Buster Olney said ESPN had no part in the delay lasting longer than it should have.

A report by Brendan Kuty of NJ.com claims ESPN pressured MLB to keep the game in a rain delay to give him the chance to hit his 61st homer on their network. Kuty reported “Throughout the delay, the Yankees and the Red Sox each lobbied the league to declare the game over as the forecast kept getting worse, the person said. But ESPN kept the pressure on.”

ESPN MLB Reporter Buster Olney pushed back on the claim.

Olney flat out denied the accusation, saying “it’s simply not true” to one user before another user claimed it was Olney’s word against Kuty’s. Olney then set the record straight.

Kuty’s report claims the rain delay only ended when Yankees manager Aaron Boone threatened to pull Judge from the game during the rain delay. When the threat of Judge being removed from the game reached MLB and ESPN authorities, according to Kuty, did the one hour and 38 minute delay end and the game was called.
