Lane Johnson Joins the JAKIB Postgame Show

JAKIB Sports has added Lane Johnson to their Philadelphia Eagles postgame show lineup.

The program, The JAKIB Postgame Show, will air live every week following Eagles games on the Philadelphia ABC affiliate as well as the JAKIB Sports YouTube channel.

“Joining this lineup of talent on The JAKIB Postgame Show is an incredible opportunity for me to connect with the best fans in the NFL in real-time after the games,” said Johnson. “I will have the ability to tell it like it is – win, lose, or draw. Can’t wait!”

Johnson will join Seth Joyner, Mike Missanelli, Derrick Gunn & Devan Kaney when the show debuts Sunday, September 11 immediately following the Eagle openers in Detroit.

The Sports Gambling Podcast Network To Launch SGPNTV On Major Streaming Platforms

The Sports Gambling Podcast Network’s flagship program, The Sports Gambling Podcast with Sean Green and Ryan Kramer, is going to be available to around 150 million additional viewers beginning next week. The network is launching SGPNTV on Roku, Amazon Fire and Apple TV.

SGPNTV is set to launch Thursday, September 1 which is just in time for the 2022 NFL and college football seasons. The Sports Gambling Podcast will air its final NFL Predictions Show during a live stream at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT that day.  Additionally, all 32 NFL team previews previously produced by SGPN will also be available On Demand on the day of launch. Future episodes of The Sports Gambling Podcast will be available daily on SGPNTV. Additional SGPN podcasts are expected to be available on SGPNTV in the coming months. 

“We’ve found a sizable audience and it’s growing, so this is another step in our journey as the top independent, always-free provider of sports betting content,” said SPGN co-founder Green, who has experience as a Hollywood show writer and comedian.

Keith Olbermann: Tucker Carlson A ‘Jiminy Glick Soundalike’

During Wednesday’s podcast of Countdown With Keith Olbermann, the host named Tucker Carlson as the runner up for Worst Persons in the World after his insinuation that the prospective kidnappers of Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) were political pawns.

“Last week, the Jiminy Glick soundalike told his viewers that the attempt to kidnap the Governor of Michigan Gretchen Whitmer in hopes of starting a second Civil War was ‘a setup by the government to make a group of ordinary people in Michigan look like terrifying right wing extremists’,” Olbermann said as he impersonated Carlson.

Jiminy Glick was a fake journalist portrayed by Martin Short on the Comedy Central show Primetime Glick in the early 2000s.

Adam Fox and Barry Croft were convicted of conspiring to kidnap the Michigan governor in 2020. They now face a potential life sentence for their crimes.

“What a shock. The kidnapper not named Barry Croft is named…FOX,” Olbermann concluded. Olbermann accused Carlson of “parroting facistspeak” earlier this month.

Brock & Salk Reuniting at Seattle Sports 710

Mike Salk made a major announcement Wednesday afternoon. The Mike Salk Show is ending on Labor Day. The good news, however, is that he’ll be rejoined by his longtime co-host Brock Huard and Brock & Salk is returning on Tuesday, September 6th. The duo will host morning drive for Seattle Sports 710, airing daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

“Brock & Salk 3.0 returns on Tuesday, September 6th,” Salk said announcing the move. Huard joined Salk after the announcement, comparing himself to Jimmy Chitwood in Hoosiers, saying “I don’t know if it will help, but I’m coming back”. Huard then joked he decided to return to the radio show after falling off his mountain bike. “I should get off this bike and back on the radio,” Huard said.

“I am thrilled to come back on the air with Mike Salk, though I feel like I never left,” said Huard. “My heart and passion are for the Pacific Northwest community, its teams, and its fans. On Sept. 6 that daily connection begins again.”

Salk said there will be different features during the third version of the show, noting it won’t be the same as the first two iterations of the show.

Brock & Salk ended their second run of the show on then-710 ESPN in 2019. The pair also have also hosted podcast together since the show ended three years ago.

Huard will continue his work as a college football analyst with FOX Sports.

Dave Portnoy: Penn National Considered Changing Name To Barstool

Last week, Penn National announced that it had a deal to acquire the remaining 64% of Barstool Sports that it did not already own. Barstool’s founder and president Dave Portnoy says that announcement was more of a PR trick than actual news.

“This, to me, unless I was missing something, is very much old news packaged as new news,” he said on the latest episode of the Dave Portnoy Show with Eddie & Co. “Like, I knew the dates the second we did the deal. They always intended on buying it all.”

The deal is set to close in 2023. Barstool Eddie, Portnoy’s co-host, said that the announcement is akin to a team holding a press conference to introduce a player that it had already been reported was joining the team.

Portnoy agreed. He said literally nothing changes regarding the day-to-day operations of Barstool. In fact, this was such a non-issue that he did not know a major announcement was coming.

“I didn’t even get a call regarding this latest announcement. The changes that happen [for Barstool] already were enacted.”

Penn National Gaming has acquired both Barstool and TheScore since 2021. Portnoy says that is Penn, a company he called “an old school company” embracing entertainment over traditional casino operations.

He said that evolution nearly put the Barstool brand front and center.

“At one point, I think there was thinking of turning the name of the company to Barstool, but with all of the baggage we have, me personally, I guess that was probably the right move not to do it.”

According to Dave Portnoy, he already believes he is an employee of Penn National. The only change he believes is coming to the Barstool offices is the day Penn National officially takes over the remaining 64% of the company, any employees holding shares of Barstool will get a nice payday.

Steve Fifer Begins ‘Sparky’s Take’ on 1250 AM The Fan

After Audacy cut all local programming on Milwaukee’s 1250 AM The Fan last week, Steve Fifer, also know as “Sparky”, has been retained to produce content for the station.

“Sparky’s Take” began this morning at 6:55 AM, and will be heard 55 minutes after the hour throughout the day. Fifer says he’ll have different interviews and commentary during the segment, and began this morning with an interview with Brewers analyst Tim Dillard.

Mark Madden Launching Podcast With BetRivers

Pittsburgh radio host Mark Madden is launching a podcast with BetRivers Network.

Mark Madden: Unfiltered will be released twice a week, recapping the latest in the sports world, sports betting, and pop culture.

The self-described “Super Genius” will be joined by Mike Prisuta every Tuesday and Thursday.

“Hosting Unfiltered on the BetRivers Network is a great way for me to share my knowledge from decades of covering the world of sports,” said Madden.  “As football season kicks-off, it’s going to be fun and rewarding to provide sports betting advice to fans throughout the Pittsburgh area, as well as the wide audience throughout the U.S. where BetRivers has sportsbooks.”

In addition to hosting a podcast with BetRivers Network, Madden is the afternoon host on 105.9 The X in Pittsburgh.

The announcement of Madden’s podcast comes on the heels of the announcement that former Chicago sports radio host Dan McNeil would also launch a podcast on the network.

97.3 The Fan, which became the flagship home of the Padres in 2018, was more than happy to continue the partnership.

ESPN has re-signed writer and injury analyst Stephania Bell to a multi-year contract extension.

Bell will continue to appear on ESPN’s NFL and fantasy football coverage. She’ll remain a regular contributor to SportsCenter in addition to Fantasy Football Now and Fantasy Focus Football podcast.

“I’m thrilled to be at ESPN because we have a diverse and talented group of fantasy minds with a broad range of expertise, delivering incredible in-depth coverage for our fans,” Bell said. “Collectively, we are ready to bring you even more so stay tuned for what we have in store this season and beyond!”

Bell, who joined ESPN in 2008, is a licensed physical thereapist as well as a board-certified orthopedic clinicial specialist.

“Stephania is a Hall of Famer and a trail blazer in the Fantasy industry,” ESPN Vice President of Fantasy & Sports Betting Content Scott Clark said. “Her insight is unparalleled and we couldn’t be happier that she is remaining in the ESPN family for the long term.”

The extension of Bell continues ESPN’s focus on fantasy sports and betting content. The network announced an extension for analyst Field Yates and the addition of betting and fantasy content creator Liz Loza earlier this month.

‘Cash The Ticket’ with Mike Valenti and Jim Costa Betting Podcast to Debut

Audacy has announced a new podcast featuring 97.1 The Ticket hosts Mike Valenti and Jim Costa will debut on Thursday, August 25th, called Cash the Ticket.

Two weekly episodes will be released, highlighting both NFL and college football bets.

A press release from the company says “Cash the Ticket sets the stage for the football weekend with the extra information listeners need to enjoy and bet confidently. Valenti has hosted afternoons at 97.1 The Ticket in Detroit since 2004. Costa works nights, weekends, and fills in during different dayparts when other hosts are on vacation.
