Newsmax has announced it has agreed to a multi-year extension with James Rosen to remain the network’s Chief White House Correspondent.

Rosen joined the network in January 2022 after previously working at outlets like Fox News and Sinclair Broadcast Group, as well as working at CBS Evening News under Dan Rather.

“I am grateful to Chris Ruddy and the entire Newsmax team for this opportunity to remain with the most vibrant growing news outlet in America,” Rosen said. “Our viewers know they can count on me to give them the news, in all its complexity and drama, in a manner that is fair and objective, often with a little dry humor—and while the cast of official Washington is about to change dramatically, my approach will not.”

“We are delighted to announce that James Rosen will cover the second Trump presidency for Newsmax,” added Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy said. “James’s reporting over the last three years has raised the standard for White House coverage, and his talent and hard-driving work ethic form a perfect match for Newsmax, a company that has grown significantly over that span and which will expand still further in the years to come.”

During his career, James Rosen has filed reports from all 50 states, in addition to the White House, the State Department, Capitol Hill, the Supreme Court, the Pentagon, and the campaign trail.

Tricia Whitaker, who has spent the last six seasons as the in-game reporter and a host for Tampa Bay Rays broadcasts has announced she will not be returning next season. Whitaker posted on her X account saying it is a bittersweet decision, but that she has decided to “prioritze things in life that matter most to me right now.”

Whitaker, who is also an adjunct professor of sports broadcasting at Indiana University, said with her new setup she will, “get to be home in the Midwest more with my family, students & my sweet nephew.”

“It is bittersweet to write this post,” Whitaker wrote on X. “But instead of all of a sudden not seeing me on your TV, I wanted you to hear it from me. I have some very happy life changes happening which means I won’t be back with the Rays next season.”

In addition to working with the Rays, Whitaker had done some work with AppleTV. Now that she has more available time on her hands, that role will expand. “I will still very much be in baseball & on MLB sidelines for Friday Night Baseball on AppleTV,” she continued. “In fact, I will now be with them every Friday, and being there every Friday night this coming season, will be a joy. We have some wonderful things in store on Apple! I’ll share additional things that are in my future at a later date.”

Witaker is a seven-time Emmy Award recipient, receiving two nods in 2022. Prior to joining the Rays broadcast, she spent four years covering local sports with the CBS affiliate in Indianapolis. Her career experience also includes a two-year stint covering professional and collegiate teams, including the Brewers and Green Bay Packers, for the ABC affiliate in Green Bay. Her professional career began as a web reporter with the Pacers and Indiana Fever.

To her crew she worked with at what is now known as FanDuel Sports Network Florida, she wrote, “The five of you are wonderful humans and you are the ones who make the broadcast what it is. You accepted me as a young reporter. You made me feel at home. To some of my favorite players I met and that have come through the clubhouse doors through the years, who either became my biggest supporter, my go-to interview or trusted me with their stories and getting to know their families: thank you. You know who you are, and you all are my favorites in the league, and I’ll continue to bug you for interviews when I’m doing your games on Apple! I truly can’t wait for this next chapter to start. See you on AppleTV every Friday and stay tuned for more.”

Former WEEI host Larry Johnson has passed away at the age of 75.

Johnson, who hosted weekends alongside Craig Mustard, retired from the Audacy Boston sports talk station five years ago. In addition to working as WEEI, Larry Johnson was a sports cartoonist for outlets like the Boston Globe, ESPN.Com, and National Sports Daily, among others.

In a post to social media, John’s former partner shared a touching tribute.

“Larry and I spent nearly 30 years together arguing on the air and bonding off it,” he wrote. “The best partner ever and I had some good ones. And what laughs! We looked at sports and life through different lens, but our respect and love for each other was never in doubt. He made me a better broadcaster and more empathetic person. What a privilege it was to know him. Rest in Peace, Larry.”

Former colleague Gerry Callahan also took to social media to remember Johnson.

“He was in the talk radio and newspaper business for 40 years and somehow never made an enemy,” shared Callahan. “Just a wonderful big bear of a man who was always the first to reach out in good times and bad. And a really great cartoonist.”

Gateway Creative Broadcasting has launched its Christian Hip Hop “Boost Radio” network in Memphis on Educational Media Foundation’s 96.7 and 94.9 WWAI-HD2 Memphis.

The network is based at 95.6 KXBS, St. Louis.

Gateway Creative Broadcasting is expanding its reach through the “Boost” brand. It now operates on EMF-owned translators in key markets, including Chicago, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Portland, OR, and Fayetteville, NC.

The organization is also planning future expansions in Austin, TX, and Lansing, MI.

EMF’s Contemporary Worship “Air 1” network transitioned to the full-power 94.9 WWAI (formerly WKVF) last month. This change resolves the overlap of the Christian AC “K-Love” programming, previously broadcast on 94.9 and 94.1 WMLE.

Following EMF’s acquisition of 94.1 from Audacy in 2023, the WMLE station has now adopted the WKVF callsign.

Hot Radio Maine has officially announced the return of its annual Thanksgiving free turkey giveaway, marking its 12th year. The event has established itself as a significant initiative for the station, having provided over 2,500 turkeys to families in Maine since it began.

This year, the stations aim to distribute more than 200 turkeys, reflecting a substantial increase from past years.

The giveaway, supported by Maine’s Credit Unions and That Place in Ogunquit, will take place at the Wells IGA, located at 1517 Post Road, on Tuesday, November 26th.

Turkeys will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 11 a.m. until supplies are exhausted.

No cost or registration is required to participate in the event. Community members are encouraged to arrive early, and as in years past, the station asks attendees to allow those in need to collect their turkeys first.

Hot Radio Maine’s Program Director and morning host Ryan Deelon recently highlighted the importance of an upcoming community event in an on-air announcement.

He said, “This is one of the most important events our station holds each year. It’s remarkable to see the growth of this event over the past 12 years. With the rising costs affecting everyone, we are glad to provide some relief to our community members this Thanksgiving. We look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday.”

Hot Radio Maine is heard on 104.7 FM in Portland and southern Maine, 100.3 FM in Lewiston, Auburn, and Brunswick, and 102.9 FM in Bangor, Brewer, Old Town, and Orono.

In a post to social media, Handley — who had been paired with Gary Sharp from 6-10 AM — shared that Tuesday was his final day with the station after it declined to renew his contract.

“I obviously wish it would’ve lasted longer, but it’s out of my hands,” he wrote. “I’m not sure what’s next, but I welcome whatever that path is.”

Nick Handley continued by thanking 1620 The Zone listeners for their support of him and his show.

“I’ll miss our listeners. I respect your opinions and passion on everything we discussed. It was a special community. Thanks for giving me a chance.”

The NRG Media sports station has billed the morning show as The Gary Sharp Show in Handley’s absence. Sharp has been with the station for 16 years.
