WIXM has been running a redirect loop for the last two months, coinciding with the relocation of its “Rock 103.3” WWMP brand to 102.3 Grand Isle in mid-September.

According to the network affiliation agreement, EMF is set to pay $3,500 per month for the station lease, which will conclude upon the finalization of its acquisition. However, this acquisition has yet to be officially filed with the FCC.

“Air 1” can now be accessed in Burlington through Christian Ministries Inc.’s 94.9 and 91.5 WGLY-HD2. The organization also operates the “Air 1” network via translators in Barre and Rutland, VT.

New FCC Chair Brendan Carr Tells Fox News: ‘Status Quo’ Around ‘Legacy Media Needs to Change’

Donald Trump has named FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr as the new Chair of the Commission. He told Fox News what his biggest priorities will include.

While appearing on America’s Newsroom, Brendan Carr laid out the three biggest priorities he sees for the FCC in his new role.

“Number one is looking at tech censorship. Free speech is the bedrock of our democracy,” said Carr. “And there’s been this unprecedented surge in censorship over the last couple of years. And we need to restore Americans’ First Amendment rights. Number two is to look at our approach to media. Jeff Bezos just recently did an op-ed where he said that Americans don’t trust the news media. He said, now they’re the least trusted of all. And I think he’s speaking a lot of truth there. So I think the status quo, particularly when it comes to legacy media, needs to change.

“And, three, we have a real opportunity to get the economy going and creating jobs. When President Trump came in, in 2017, we were behind the eight ball when it came to communications policy, and he turned things around. And that’s exactly what is going to happen again,” he concluded.

During his time on Fox News, Carr added that freeing up the media industry from government bureaucracy also will be a chief initiative.

“We need to free up more spectrum. We need to do permitting reform. You talk about rural broadband, that’s the key there,” he continued. “And number three is the space economy. I mean, I’m down here in South Padre Island right now. There’s going to be another Starship launch later today. And it simply cannot take longer to move permitting paper from one desk at an agency to another than it does to build and launch these rockets. So we’re going to unleash America’s private sector again.”

Mark Levin: Radio Companies Will Someday See How Bad the 6-9 PM Timeslot Is When I’m Not Around

The Mark Levin Show airs live on weekdays from 6-9 PM ET. The longtime nationally syndicated host believes it’s a difficult window to find success in.

While discussing the deflating ratings of network television news programs on Monday, Levin noted that the timeslot isn’t ideal for building large audiences, but he has managed to do just that.

“We’re up against everything,” said Levin. “My show, time-wise, I’m up against all the sports, the playoffs, the big games. I’m up against dinner. I’m up against all this, and nobody else is during the course of a show. I know we run other times throughout the country, given your time slots, 3 to 6 PM on the West Coast, but it is the toughest time slot there is for half the country. And here we are pounding the hell out of all our competition.”

A Pew Research study recently showed that network news shows have lost portions of their audience since 2020. News/talk radio, however, has remained steady in that timeframe.

Mark Levin added that one day on the horizon he won’t be around to host a program in the timeslot, which — in his opinion — will lead to a greater appreciation for what he has done in the window.

“One day I won’t be here, then the radio companies will see what happens from 6 to 9 PM. It will plummet. No brag, just fact,” The Mark Levin Show host said. “We’ve had stations ask us back, because they’ve seen what took place. If I decide to retire six months from now, I don’t know how many of you going to turn on your am radio station from 6 to 9 PM on the East Coast. I’m guessing not a ton. Or if I decide to retire and just do a podcast, how many of you will stop listening to radio, at least during this time, and shift over to the podcast? I am guessing a whole lot of you.

“That will be tested one day in the future. Maybe they’re not so distant future in one market or another.”

According to the latest Nielsen report, The Gauge, the month of October saw a 10% increase in sports viewership. To no surprise, it was NFL football games which dominated the month’s top broadcasts, including having the top 16 most-watched programs.

No. 1 on the list for the month was the Super Bowl rematch between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. That game drove an average of 27 million viewers to FOX. FOX also had the No. 1 non-NFL broadcast, which was Game 1 of the World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Yankees. That game drew an average audience of 15.2 million viewers, good for 17th in the month.

Other top broadcasts in the month include the Green Bay Packers-Los Angeles Rams matchup in week five which drew 20.27 million viewers along with the Sunday Night Football game that week between the Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Steelers which was also seen by just over 20 million viewers. A week 8 matchup between the Cowboys and 49ers saw 23.9 million viewers tune in on average.

The report also states cable viewing accounted for 26.3% of total TV usage in October (+0.2 pt.), and the category notched its first positive share change since April. In addition to gains which came due to the elections, there was a 52% boost in sports viewing driven by NFL Monday Night Football, college football and MLB playoff games.

Sports and news programs were also at the top of the most-watched cable telecasts list in October, with the NFL Monday Night Football game between Kansas City and New Orleans taking the top slot with 14 million viewers on ESPN, followed by FOX News Channel’s presentation of the VP Debate which drew 7.9 million viewers on the network. On a yearly basis, cable news was up 17% compared to October 2023, while cable sports was up 14%.

Futuri has unveiled an exciting redesign of TopicPulse, its cutting-edge real-time content intelligence platform widely used by broadcasting brands.

TopicPulse is crafted to keep content creators, broadcasters, and digital publishers updated on current topics resonating with their audiences.

This tool serves as a customized roadmap, allowing stations to effectively produce the most relevant content that engages and grows their audiences across essential platforms.

Local market users can pinpoint trending stories, discover untapped angles, anticipate viewer interests, and analyze competitor coverage. This approach centers on providing broadcasters insights into the content resonating with their audiences.

Key benefits:

· Decide what content is best to run on-air, on your website, and on social media channels to keep your listeners tuning in and engaging with your station.

· Create custom content categories, called “smart pulses,” to track story engagement in categories that are most important to your audience.

· Know the angles of a story that have been covered and, importantly, the angles that have not been covered to identify and post fresh, uncovered content.

· Track activity in select Facebook groups with our “Community Radar” feature without leaving the TopicPulse ecosystem.

· TopicPulse scans X/Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and 250,000 news sources in real-time to select the right stories to cover at the right time, ensuring they resonate with your local audience and target demographic

“I want to thank our customers for being so instructive on the redesign and vocal about the features that matter most to them,” said Jay O’Connor, President, TopicPulse. “Our team has worked hard to deliver on those customer requests with an emphasis on the main reason customers come to TopicPulse: to find out precisely what stories their audiences are most engaged with right now.”
