The University of Utah has had one home on the Salt Lake City radio dial since 1951. Thanks to a new deal, it is going to stay that way after the school and ESPN 700 agreed to terms on a five-year extension.
“On behalf of the ownership and employees of Broadway Media, we extend our excitement and sincere appreciation to University of Utah Athletics and LEARFIELD/Utes Sports Properties for choosing ESPN 700 to be their flagship radio station for another five years,” Broadway Media President Steve Johnson said in a press release. “As we move forward with this new agreement we pledge the strong support of Broadway’s entire family of radio stations, social media, and billboards to promote University of Utah Athletics and University programs to the best of our ability.”
The station will carry Utes football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and gymnastics. Bill Riley will start his 14th season as the voice of Utah football, basketball, and baseball.
“We are pleased that the contract with ESPN 700 to be the flagship radio home of the Utes has been extended for another five years,” said Utah Director of Athletics Mark Harlan. “In partnership with our multimedia rightsholder Utes Sports Properties, ESPN 700 has played a vital role in serving our great fans far and wide with high-quality game broadcasts and additional programming, including coaches’ shows. We look forward to continuing this great relationship.”
