If WDAE wasn’t on the map in the sports media world already, Aaron Jacobson changed that on Monday. The midday host was the first to report that members of the Florida Panthers were out at a Tampa strip club until 3 am the night before Game 4 of their series against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Tuesday morning, his colleagues on the station’s morning show Ronnie & TKras gave Jacobson credit and marveled at how big the story became.
“Congrats to him,” host Tom Krasniqi said. “On his 32nd birthday, he comes through with this story about the Florida Panthers, the night before last, going out and enjoying themselves to the wee hours of the morning at a Tampa establishment.”
Morning show producer and third mic Zac Blobner joked that the report was very on-brand for Jacobson.
“Go figure Aaron breaks a story on a strip club.”
Krasniqi was with impressed just how seriously the national took a report from a radio station in Tampa. They could have very easily treated the story as a joke or a kicker, but didi more than that.
“I saw a lot of national guys pick up on it too and they were able to confirm the guys did go out and they tied one on because they knew the series was over.”
