Fans of the Arizona Diamondbacks will not hear as much of Greg Schulte as usual in 2022. The team’s radio voice announced on Monday that he will have to cut down his workload as he undergoes chemotherapy.
In a statement shared on the team’s Twitter feed, Schulte said he was already planning on calling just the home games this season. Unfortunately, his treatments will require him to miss many of those games too.
He did not specify the condition, saying only that it requires chemotherapy.
“I want to thank my family for their love and support, the D-backs, D-backs fans, and my broadcast partners for their support and willingness to cover for me while I’m away from the radio booth,” the statement concludes.
The Arizona Diamondbacks debuted in 1998. Greg Schulte has been the voice of the team the entire time.
