The Athletic Declares Bernstein & Holmes Best Radio Show In Chicago

Dan Bernstein and Laurence Holmes were paired up for a new midday show on 670 The Score less than a month ago. It seems like the partnership is already paying off as Chicagoans voted Bernstein & Holmes the best radio show in Chicago in a new poll conducted by The Athletic.

More than 2500 readers responded to writer Jon Greenberg’s questions about the state of local sports media in Chicago. Nearly 30% of respondents said that Bernstein & Rahimi was their favorite local daytime show.

“Wait, hasn’t that show been on for only five minutes?” Greenberg wrote. “Yep, but either the fans love it or they just love the idea of the two longtime Score hosts being paired.”

ESPN 1000’s Carman & Jurko finished second with 25.7%. Parkins & Spiegel rounded out the top three with 22.3% of the vote.

Mitch Rosen called it “a true testament to the loyalty and fandom for both” Dan Bernstein and Laurence Holmes. The 670 The Score PD added that he is not surprised by the fast success given how eager the two were to work together when presented with the opportunity.

If there is any in show competition, Laurence Holmes gets the bragging rights. He edged out Bernstein in a vote for the single best Chicago sports radio personality. The two were separated by just 0.7% of the vote.

Other notable findings from the poll included Jason Goff running away from the pack in a vote for which former Chicago sports radio personality local listeners wanted to see return and Chris Tannehill receiving more than 50% of the vote when it came to best sports radio producer.

Finally, Greenberg asked readers to share their favorite “Grobberism” in honor of the late Les Grobstein. More than 500 people responded with the signature line from Grobstein’s rant in 2013 about the Miami Heat, “And the horse that rode in on them”.
