Dan Dakich Tells Off-Color Jokes at Event With Urban One

Dan Dakich told a pair of off-color jokes at 93.5/107.5 The Fan’s “A Night in the Fan Cave” event last month at the Indiana Historical Society, according to reporting from Gregg Doyel at the Indianapolis Star.

Officials from Urban One, who recently entered into an agreement to purchase 93.5/107.5 The Fan as well as other Indianapolis radio stations from Emmis Communications, were in attendance.

According to Doyel, Urban One representatives were “mortified” by the “tasteless” jokes, while Emmis leaders asked employees to remain quiet about the situation.

Urban One is the largest distributor of urban content in the United States. According to their company website they “represent black culture” boldly, courageously, and unapologetically.

Doyel, a former friend of Dakich’s, spoke on the two’s friendship and his disappointment in seeing Dakich become a “caricature he created and has become”.

“For months Dakich has been revealing his true character, one episode at a time,” Doyel writes.

“So insightful about basketball and the inner workings of a team, he now fancies himself a political talking head, adding a second daily show on a right-wing radio station that specializes in conspiracy theories, half-truths, outright lies and hate. His handful of supporters tell Dakich he’s wise, and he believes it.”
