The midday show at 102.5 The Game in Nashville needs a new name. The station has parted ways with Darren McFarland. Program director Chase McCabe made the announcement on Tuesday.
“When you have been in the radio business for 25 years, I guess you are never surprised by anything,” McFarland told Nick Gray of The Tennessean. “I’m just thankful for the 11 years I spent on the air at 102.5 The Game.”
Darren McFarland was one of the original voices on 102.5 The Game. He joined the station in 2011, when it transitioned from a CHR format to sports talk. He also served as the studio anchor of the station’s coverage of the Nashville Predators.
Former Titans receiver Derrick Mason will join McCabe and Willy Dauncic on the midday show on 102.5 The Game. He returned to the station after being let go from the morning show two years ago. Going forward, it will be known as Chase, Willy & D-Mase.
McFarland has been on the air in Nashville since 2004. He told Gray that he plans to stay in the area regardless of what it may mean for his media career.
“Would I love for (my radio career) to continue here? Sure,” he said. “But if that’s it, I walk away with a whole lot of memories and great stories to tell.”
