In a recent story with Vanity Fair, Rachel Maddow revealed she has several different projects in the works, including podcasts.
She is currently working on a non-fiction narrative podcast set to be released in the fall.
“It’s an American history, underappreciated story, that has resonance for all these things we’re dealing with today—the threat of authoritarianism and the question of whether or not criminal law is the appropriate venue, and has the right constitutional powers, to handle those kinds of threats,” Maddow told Vanity Fair. “It’s about journalism and journalistic ethics, and the ability of powerful people to manipulate American systems.”
The podcast will be the first released by her Surprise Inside production company.
VF also reports Maddow, during her contract negotiations with MSNBC, was approached by SiriusXM to host a weekly satellite radio show, with a nearly $40 million per year salary attached. SiriusXM declined to comment.
Maddow will continue to host her television show on MSNBC on Mondays at 9:00 PM, with Alex Wagner taking over on a Tuesday through Friday basis.
