To begin his Tuesday show, 97.1 The Ticket afternoon host Mike Valenti shared details on a new show that will feature the Detroit host paired with former NFL quarterback and WFAN morning show co-host Boomer Esiason.
“I ain’t gonna be here at 5 o’clock on Thursday some weeks because I am going to do a national NFL show with Boomer Esiason in New York,” Valenti revealed. “For once, I’m not the marquee. I just get to go to work. We’re gonna have that for you Friday nights every week, every Audacy station in the country through the Super Bowl. That will debut Friday. So this Thursday, Rico and the boys will carry you through, and I’ll be getting on the big bird to go tape the damn show.”
Valenti’s co-host, Rico Beard, told Valenti he was proud of him. Valenti replied “thanks, dad”.
Valenti tried to contain his excitement, but shared this something he’s been looking forward to.
“Very excited about that. It’s basically what I was doing on here on Sundays and we finally got to go make this official and make it big.”
No details on a show name or airtime were announced by Valenti.
What did Boomer do wrong that he has to take this punishment? Poor guy.
Mike is awesome. Still has that NY edge and his knowledge of the nfl is fantastic. Will be an entertaining show
Fake NY edge. He’s from UPSTATE New York. Sort of like saying someone from Ishpeming is from Detroit. His act is stale. He’s a big fish in a very small pond. His New York audition a few years back is the reason he is still in Detroit.
