Alabama defeated Texas 20-19 Saturday in what ended as one of college football’s best games of the weekend. It was also a big winner for Fox Sports as the contest was the most streamed game in the network’s history.
The contest wasn’t the most streamed college football game in the network’s history, it was the most streamed football game ever, including the NFL.
Streaming content has long been a source of contention for those in college sports. In recent Big Ten media rights negotiations, the conference tried to avoid putting games on streaming-only platforms, before ultimately inking a deal with Fox, NBC, and CBS that will see a portion of the package exclusively on NBC-owned Peacock.
Fox Sports didn’t reveal the streaming viewership totals for the game.
