After reports that new CNN President Chris Licht could “blow up” New Day, the network has announced the cast of a new morning show. Don Lemon, Poppy Harlow, and Kaitlan Collins will host a new, yet-to-be-named show.
“This demonstrates our commitment to the morning and how important it is to me,” Licht told The New York Times. “The show will set the tone of the entire day and it will set the tone for the news organization.”
Current morning hosts John Berman and Brianna Keilar will transition to different roles at the network.
Currently, New Day is the lowest rated cable news morning show among MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News. Both Fox & Friends and MSNBC’s Morning Joe draw more than a million viewers daily. New Day averaged half that.
Lemon has been with CNN since 2006, serving as the anchor of the 10:00 PM show since 2014. Harlow joined the network in 2008 and has worked as the mid-morning anchor of CNN Newsroom. Collins currently works as CNN’s Chief White House correspondent.
