After a long summer hiatus, Michael Kay has returned to The Michael Kay Show and took a shot at his radio bosses Wednesday.
Peter Rosenberg applauded Dave Rothenberg and Rick DiPietro for their ability to get up and do a show that begins at 5:00 AM, saying the pair is “on another planet” while getting ready for their show. Don La Greca then added if he were to ever request a trade, he’d like to do the 5:00 AM-8:00 AM show, and stay up all night to do the show before sleeping at 8:00 AM.
While discussing how difficult it must be for DiPietro & Rothenberg, Kay lamented the lack of a strong lead-in to his afternoon show.
“Peter, if you were the general manager of the station and Don requested a trade — now, for some reason, the programming geniuses have only two local shows until 7:00 PM — who would you trade Don for?”, Kay said.
The ESPN New York lineup consists of DiPietro & Rothenberg from 5:00 AM-8:00 AM, before airing the national ESPN Radio lineup from 8:00 PM-3:00 PM before The Michael Kay Show airs in afternoon drive from 3:00 PM-7:00 PM.
