The WWE made some play-by-play announcer shakeups on Thursday and that includes Jimmy Smith’s time with the company coming to an end.
Smith replaced Adnan Virk as the lead play-by-play announcer for WWE Raw last May.
Smith tweeted a statement.
“Just wanted to say, now that the story is officially out, that my time with the WWE is officially done. Had a lot of fun and met some great people. Really and truly blown away by the acceptance from the WWE fans! You folks make it work every week and your enthusiasm was amazing!”
The WWE Raw announce team now consists of Kevin Patrick and Corey Graves. WWE will move Byron Saxton from color commentator to backstage interviewer and Cathey Kelley is returning to the company to become a backstage interviewer as well.
The company’s FOX product, SmackDown, will feature Michael Cole and Wade Barrett until Pat McAfee returns from his ESPN College GameDay role. Megan Morant and Kayla Braxton are the backstage interviewers.
