Clay Travis: MSNBC Doesn’t Have Smart People Working There

When Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a devastating concussion on Thursday Night Football two weeks ago, some political pundits wasted no time trying to take advantage of the inherently violent nature of the sport by politicizing the injury.

Outkick founder and syndicated radio host Clay Travis believes that MSNBC’s Tiffany Cross is one of those people who tried to tie Tua’s injury to racism by degrading Miami’s organization including head coach Mike McDaniel.

“MSNBC is bad when they talk about politics, they get a lot of things wrong, they have a lot of people that aren’t smart that work there,” he said.

The “Clay & Buck” host made the comments during his nationally syndicated show Tuesday which airs on approximately 400 radio stations across the U.S.

Tagovailoa’s injury sparked a nationwide debate about whether the league took the necessary steps to protect his health.

Cross said the reason Tua is being treated the way he is, is because he is a Black player with a white head coach. For the record, Tagovailoa is Samoan and his coach, Mike McDaniel is biracial but is identified as Black by the National Football League.

“I have to say the optics just look bad,” said Cross. “You see all these Black men crashing into each other with a bunch of white owners and white coaches and the complete disregard of Black bodies and Black life.”

Travis said that race in the NFL has nothing to do with the owners wanting their players to get back onto the field.

“This is the talking points now of the Democrat party,” Travis added. “Everything is racist, everybody is racist, even if you’re making millions of dollars.”
