Kanye West Buying Parler

Kanye West has agreed to purchase social media platform Parler, according a press release from the company.

“In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves,” said West, who now goes simply by Ye, in a statement released by Parler.

The move for West to purchase the social media network comes after his Twitter and Instagram were suspended. In a tweet, West said he would go “death con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE”, claiming he couldn’t be construed as anti-Semitic because black people are jewish.

Launched in 2018, Parler is one of several right-wing social media platforms launched during the presidency of Donald Trump.

“Ye is making a groundbreaking move into the free speech media space and will never have to fear being removed from social media again,” Parlement Technologies CEO George Farmer said. “Once again, Ye proves that he is one step ahead of the legacy media narrative. Parlement will be honored to help him achieve his goals.”

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. A report from CNBC lists West’s net worth as more than $2 billion, mostly coming from his Yeezy footware line.
