Joe Davis is in his first season as the lead Major League Baseball announcer for FOX Sports, which includes his first World Series. Davis has a big fan in 94WIP morning host Angelo Cataldi.
“I happen to be a pretty big fan of John Smoltz,” Cataldi said. “I like the way he does the game. I’m gonna tell you something else. Joe Davis is a better baseball announcer than Joe Buck.”
The Morning Team cast all concurred that the 34-year-old Davis is better than Buck, before Cataldi continued.
“Why do we need his opinion on baseball when he got drummed out of the sport?,” the retiring Cataldi said.
The comments came after a caller to the program asked if they were aware that Joe Buck “poo-pooed” the Phillies during the Monday Night Football broadcast last week. The caller accused Buck and analyst Troy Aikman of speaking highly about the Houston Astros while giving the Philadelphia Phillies a passing mention as being participants in the World Series.
