A discussion about the similarities and differences between New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones and New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson angered a caller into Toucher & Rich this morning. The Boston sports radio duo didn’t stand idly by as the criticism rolled in.
“Is this WFAN in New York or is this 98.5 The Sports Hub?,” the caller asked. “I’m tired of hearing Fred Toucher talk about the New York Jets. We don’t care about the Jets, we don’t care about their growth or lack of it for 50 something years. Why don’t you talk about the 8-1 Boston Bruins. Because that’s a Boston team and that’s something positive.”
“We’re gonna talk about the Boston Bruins the day after a Patriots game and the Bruins didn’t play. That’s exactly what we’re gonna do,” Toucher sarcastically said. “That’s what we’re gonna focus on the entire morning, and drive our entire audience screaming into the night.”
“Let’s do WFAN then,” Rich Shertenlieb said, in a high-pitched New York accent, reminiscent of Chris “Mad Dog” Russo. “‘Big tennis tournament in Cincinnati. I think Nadal coming off a knee injury might be able to play’.”
“Talk Boston Bruins,” Toucher continued. “I pitched that in the meeting and got shot down.”
“Juxtaposing two second-year quarterbacks who just played each other the day before,” Fred Toucher continued. “We wanna skip that. It is very irresponsible and selfish on my part for wanting to talk about the development of two quarterbacks. Considering that’s what’s been written about. Everywhere. ‘Talk about the Bruins’. Go to Florida and just finish your life out. Go listen to the Florida station. You’re not making me any money.”
