Much has been made about the seeming disdain Al Michaels has had for the recent Thursday Night Football schedule. Kevin Harlan has noticed that sentiment as well.
Appearing as a guest on The DA Show with Damon Amendolara on CBS Sports Radio, Harlan said he’s certain it’s been different for Michaels.
“It’s a little different swimming in those Thursday night waters than it is Sunday night, isn’t it? I think he’s finding that out,” said Harlan. “It’s been kind of an eye-opening experience for a guy that loves the limelight and a guy that deserves to be there as maybe the best TV voice in the history of the NFL.”
Harlan added he believes Michaels deserves better games than what the Thursday Night Football schedule has featured recently.
“Some of those matchups on Thursday have been pretty interesting, and I think Al has voiced his displeasure during those games. I’m sure he can’t believe what has happened. He deserves a better game.”
“Al has called the best game of the weekend for 35 years, then looked around and has to call P.J. Walker against Marcus Mariota on Thursday,” Amendolara laughed as he noted the upcoming Carolina Panthers/Atlanta Falcons Thursday Night Football matchup.
