Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro is criticizing the Washington Post for changing its position on big-city crime.
“The Washington Post has been downplaying crime for months and months and months until just after the midterm elections were over,” he said on his radio show Wednesday.
Shapiro took exception to recent reporting by the Post which said that minorities are being disproportionately affected by crime in major cities.
“Oh, you don’t say.” He stated. “I thought it was the rural areas, I was told it was a bunch of white people in Vermont that were shooting each other.”
Shapiro said he is frustrated with the reporting by mainstream media outlets who he claims are ignoring the true reality of the crime epidemic.
“It’s almost like you held this story until just after the election, Washington Post,” he said. “The Post visited nine of these places which have seen the highest murder rates.”
Shapiro said many of those crime-ridden cities are spread across the South and Midwest.
“Now they are going to report on the crime crisis that disproportionately targets disproportionately Black men,” he said. “I’m glad that we can now talk about this openly.”
