CNN senior media reporter Oliver Darcy has tweeted the latest memo from CNN CEO Chris Licht that details the changes made by the mass layoffs to the network. Included in the memo is the note that the network will cease live programming on Headline News, and morning anchor Robin Meade has been included in the cuts.
The change will take place on December 6th, with Licht wishing Meade well.
“I want to take a moment to thank Robin Meade — she is not only an exceptionally popular anchor but also one of the longest-running morning hosts in history. I know the HLN audience will miss her and the other HLN talent.”
The 53-year-old Meade’s first day with HLN, oddly enough, was September 11th, 2001. She has hosted Morning Express, which aired from 6:00-11:00 AM live from CNN’s Atlanta studios, since 2005.
The memo details all the changes made by the network as CNN International will change some programming to simulcast CNN US from 5:00-5:30 PM ET. It also provides details into CNN’s aim to launch a strictly Spanish-language platform for CNN en Espanol in 2024.
