Rangers fans will not hear the familiar voice of Eric Nadel early in the new MLB season. The radio voice of the team took to Twitter on Wednesday to announce he is taking some time off to address his mental health.
Nadel says he is struggling with anxiety, insomnia and depression. He is currently receiving treatment.
He did not give fans an idea of when to expect to hear his voice again. Until Nadel returns, Matt Hicks and Jared Sandler will call the games on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas.
Eric Nadel has been the voice of the Texas Rangers since 1995. In 2006, the team rewarded him with a lifetime contract. In 2014, his peers awarded him with a spot in the National Baseball Hall of Fame with the Ford C. Frick Award.
Mental Health has become a prominent conversation in American society in recent years. This week, Jay Glazer received the Champions Award at the BSM Summit for his advocacy for mental health care.
