Howard Eskin Says He Will Retire if Eagles Draft Bijan Robinson

The NFL Draft officially begins Thursday, and the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles will make two selections in the first round. The first pick comes at number 10 and then the second is at number 30.

The Eagles managed to secure a top-10 pick in this year’s draft thanks to the New Orleans Saints, setting the Eagles up nicely to add another quality piece to the roster.

So who will the Eagles select at 10th overall? WIP host Howard Eskin hopes and believes the team doesn’t take Texas running back Bijan Robinson.

Eskin joined Jon Marks and Ike Reese on Wednesday to talk about it, and Eskin doubled down on a proposition.

“If they draft Bijan Robinson at number 10, I will retire,” Eskin said. “And it will be longer than the 1 minute and 23 seconds that Ray Diddinger retired. And I love Ray.”

Howard feels like in today’s NFL, the running game has become secondary to the passing game, thus making the decision to take a running back at number 10 not the best value.

“You don’t run to win games,” he said. “There’s more value in other picks.”

Eskin added that if the Eagles were to trade out of 10 down to say 16 or 17, taking a running back is a choice that is up in the air. But he felt like the smarter choice would be to select an offensive or defensive lineman.

“If you don’t have good players on the offensive or defensive line, you’re gonna win squat, nada, nothing,” he said.

This is not the first ultimatum Eskin has thrown down regarding the number ten pick. Last week, he told Marks & Reese that if the Eagles use the pick on Northwestern tackle Peter Skoronski, he will make a $500 donation to the Eagles Autism Challenge.
