98.7 ESPN New York host Michael Kay recently noticed an uptick in callers to his show from out of state, which he’s very appreciative of. He loves that his program reaches audiences across the country.
But on Friday’s edition of The Michael Kay Show, he said he hates that the national audience doesn’t help the show in terms of local ratings.
“We’ve got calls from LA, Florida, North Carolina. We’re reaching more people nationally,” Kay said. “But those people don’t have meters it stinks!”
“The show’s really popular, but yeah we can’t get a rating off them,” co-host Don La Greca responded. “We’re getting calls all over the place!”
Kay’s program goes head-to-head against Carton & Roberts on WFAN for three hours each day. BSM’s major market winter ratings recap published earlier this month showed Craig Carton and Evan Roberts coming in 3rd place, with Kay coming in 15th.
