Chris Plante: Sad What Passes For Journalism at CNN

Syndicated radio host Chris Plante criticized CNN for its reporting and subsequent encounter with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy this week. Plante called out Lauren Fox, the reporter documented in the exchange with McCarthy. Her line of questioning centered on Donald Trump’s federal criminal case.

“Are you prepared to defend your network, CNN?” McCarthy said as they spoke over each other. “Even though your network hired Andrew McCabe, who was fired from the FBI for leaking classified documents, did you remove him from your network? No, you continue to put him on to give judgment against President Trump. You also hired Clapper …”

Plante remarked that Fox was aggressively challenging the House Speaker and behaving in a manner that resembled an activist rather than a journalist.

“She (Fox) is supposed to be a reporter, not a Democrat party protestor and activist,” Plante said. “The Speaker of the House of Representatives begins to answer her questions, and she jumps in and emphatically cut him off and shut him down because that’s what passes for journalism at CNN, which is why I had to leave in disgust several years ago.”

McCarthy criticized the network for employing James Clapper, who allegedly deceived the American public, alongside 51 other individuals who utilized briefings for political purposes. McCarthy asserted, “Your network hires Clapper, who outright lied to the American public, falsely linking a laptop to Russia collusion despite having substantial information about the Biden administration.”

“Do you want to defund the police? Because then the headline on CNN becomes, ‘Speaker McCarthy calls for defunding the police,’ said Plante. “If you get your news from CNN, MSNBC, The Washington Post, you might as well wedge your head into your own dark and remote location.”
