Sports fans in Alaska’s largest city can still hear sports talk on 550 AM. It will just be new voices. 550 The Zone has dropped its ESPN Radio affiliation in favor of FOX Sports Radio.
The move shouldn’t come as a surprise. The Zone is owned by iHeartMedia, FOX Sports Radio’s parent company.
“FOX Sports 550 The Zone is very excited to be a part of the FOX Sports family, all day, every day,” Mark Murphy, Senior Vice President of Programming at iHeartMedia Anchorage, said in a press release. “It’s great to have the biggest names in sports talk radio like Dan Patrick and Colin Cowherd jump start the day, followed by an impressive lineup that will keep listeners engaged 24/7!”
The station will carry the entire FOX Sports Radio national lineup. There will not be any local sports talk on the station.
